    M1 vs PP for 0w20 H/M?

I've been using Mobil1 0w20 high mileage for my 02 Civic SiR on the last couple of oil changes. Runs nicely and seems to reduce the oil consumption. PP 0w20 H/M is on sale for half the price at Canuckistan Rubber. M1 has slightly higher Kinematic Viscosity @ 100C (8.8 vs. 8.5) Thoughts on...

Storing summer tires in crawl space, clear bags ok?

I have some summer tires that I want to store in a crawl space. I've cleaned and prepped the area with a shop vac and I'll lay down some cardboard. Is it okay to use clear construction bags to store them? It's just what I have. As far as I know, the purpose of using black or opaque bags is to...

Coolant leak parked in the cold

So, I opened up the plastic covers underneath the bumper and it turns out it's actually a washer fluid leak (different colour fluid and the bottom of the washer fluid reservoir is wet). Although I'm reasonably certain I'll get a coolant leak when it gets super cold. Thanks for the suggestions...

Coolant leak parked in the cold

02 Honda Civic SiR. Bloody Canadian winter is here again. I noticed a coolant leak last year when it got pretty cold, leaked about 30mL (1 fl oz) a day when the temps dropped to -30C (-22F). I'm not sure if it's getting worse or if I'm misremembering, but it hit -16C (3F) last night and I found...

Overfilled, drained some, still too full?

Was a little hasty and overfilled my oil when changing it today. '02 Honda Civic EP3, uses the "two indicator holes" type of dipstick. I drained out the excess, but I'm wondering if I need to drain a bit more. Couldn't get a good picture of it without three hands, but this is an accurate...

Are these bushings rubber or poly? And what grease?

One follow-up question: the bushings are split so they can just be slipped on around the bar. I made sure the bar is centered and correctly oriented, and positioned the bushings the same as the old ones, but one of the bushings doesn't totally close up. Is this a problem? It doesn't seem to...

Are these bushings rubber or poly? And what grease?

Thanks everyone, I went with a dry install since these were rubber bushings. No squeaks or anything, and the clunks are gone!

Are these bushings rubber or poly? And what grease?

4 replies, 4 different answers, true to BitOG form :p If I grease them, can I just use Mobil1 GC-LB synthetic grease I have? Says it's meant for chassis components.

Are these bushings rubber or poly? And what grease?

I bought a set of these for my stabilzer bar and I can't tell whether they're rubber or polyurethane. Google and manufacturer's website are no use. Do I need to grease them for installation? What type of grease should I use?

Used GC/bearing grease on ball joints

I foolishly listened to my old man telling me "oh yeah, that's strong stuff, just use it" when I borrowed his grease gun. Turns out it contains wheel bearing grease (this stuff, to be exact). I used it to grease my end links and outer tie rod ends. I'm replacing the links and one of the tie rod...

Keeping revs up when idling with AC on?

Do you drive an older car? Every car I've had just does this on its own. A/C systems consume a decent bit of power, so the engine automatically increases revs by a couple 100 RPM or so to compensate.

    Humming/Buzzing from tires or bearings?

Quote Then if they are not OEM tires, the door placard is only a baseline (technically it is anyhow, meaning it is a compromise between performance and comfort), and actual wear on the tire will tell you if it is over, under, or inflated just right. Again, with your wear pattern, I would put a...

    Humming/Buzzing from tires or bearings?

Quote What exact spec? Whats listed on the door jamb? Are these OEM tires? Good point. No idea what the OEM tires were. I know these are the right size. The speed rating (88V) is higher than OEM spec (H), but everything else is the same. Quote I have found tires with no irregular wear sound...

    Humming/Buzzing from tires or bearings?

Quote Also, since you have alittle more wear on the outer edges, you are running a low tire pressure for the particular tire/vehicle combo I regularly check the pressures, they're inflated exactly to spec. But, no telling what the previous owner did. The only thing is... doesn't the pitch of...

    Humming/Buzzing from tires or bearings?

So, I'm thinking it could be down to simple tire rotation. Is there any way I can determine where the tires were installed (as in, which corner)? Or do I just need to keep moving them around until it shuts up?

    Humming/Buzzing from tires or bearings?

Ah, sorry. 02 Civic SiR. I'm planning to check it when I have time this weekend, just looking to get some info. I thought wheel bearings generally made a lower "growling" noise.

    Humming/Buzzing from tires or bearings?

Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Seasons. Tread is good, 9/32 in the middle, 8/32 the edges on all four tires. Tire ages range from 2.5 to 4 years. No cracks, dry rot or bulges. I'm hearing a humming/buzzing at about 40 km/h and higher. It's a "pneumatic" sounding noise, kind of like blowing air...
