Connect PC directly to fibre optic modem?

I did not know that having the router helps. I only have one PC and I don't use WiFi, so having the WiFi is just added vulnerability to hackers. I am going to take the near unanimous advice given to me and leave the TPLink in and not turn off the modem and router at night. BTW I turn off my PC...

    Tire Bead Breaking

Used a jack under a frame rail on a box truck In the first pic cracks can be seen where the tire is sharply folded over. This tire is being scrapped anyway but I was wondering if these cracks indicate serious dry rot or if it is normal for an older tire when folded over severely

Connect PC directly to fibre optic modem?

Bad news, nothing worked. I unplugged the Nokia and TPLink, shut down my PC and left everything off for fifteen minutes. Connected the PC directly to the Nokia, left out the TPLink and started up the PC and then the Nokia. Got the first screen. Hooked up Nokia to TPLink and my PC to TPLink and...

Connect PC directly to fibre optic modem?

The TPLink Deco was sent to me by Acanac, the ISP, in anticipation of the switchover to fibre optic. I did not have to provide a MAC address. I will try restarting my PC after connecting to Nokia.

Connect PC directly to fibre optic modem?

My internet service provider (Acanac) orignally had me on DSL, last year they switched me over to coaxial cable and a month ago ran a fibre optic line to my house. The fibre optic cable terminates in a Nokia modem and there is a ethernet cable from this modem feeding a TPLink Deco WiFi modem. I...

    G9 LED Flicker

No, all four in parallel. BTW I had to google Suzuki Inazuma, never heard of it before. To add to my original post, there were no signs of arcing at the base of the bulb or on the contacts of the socket. Bulb fit into the socket was reasonably tight..

    G9 LED Flicker

This bulb, one out of four in a small chandelier, was flickering and I replaced it with a Dicuno brand from Amazon. The new one did not flicker. I fed 120V to the bulb I took off, on the bench, and it did not flicker. Heat is not an issue in this chandelier application as in the bulb not being...

    Capacitor or Battery?

The city wanted us to drop off smoke detectors for processing the radioactive content. and I have been doing that for decades. But the last time I went, they said to just toss it into the garbage because the amount of radioactive material is very small. Don't know if there has been a reduction...

    Capacitor or Battery?

Thanks, danez-yoda. I knew electrolytic capacitors did that. From what you post, it looks like all capacitors do, since they all have a dielectric in them.

    Capacitor or Battery?

You nailed it, dishdude. It is the CO sensor. Thanks.

    Capacitor or Battery?

Found this when I opened up Kidde and SMC smoke/CO detectors. There is a tiny vent hole at the top and there is a pad of moisture/odour absorbent gel taped over the hole. I am guessing capacitor. If I momenatrily short the two ends together and then monitor the voltage, it slowly starts climbing...

Wiring in NuTone 9420CN Twin Bulb Bathroom Heater

The bulb heater is not mine, I just repaired it for a customer. The circulating fan bearings had worn out and was making a racket. I replaced the skeleton motor. That said, I expect they are useful. I have a baseboard heater that I linger by after I step out of the shower. The flow of warm air...

Wiring in NuTone 9420CN Twin Bulb Bathroom Heater

When I first read the diagram after taking the grill off the unit, I went Whaat? I took the two rectangles in the diagram as depicting the two bulbs in the heater and the second bulb was going to be in series with the first. And why did I interpret it that way? Because diagrams inside a unit...

Wiring in NuTone 9420CN Twin Bulb Bathroom Heater

I was just making sure I was reading the diagram correctly. There is only one switch controlling this heater as it is wired in the house, it turns on both lamps and the fan.

Wiring in NuTone 9420CN Twin Bulb Bathroom Heater

Similar to this one https://www.broan-nutone.com/en-us/product/ventilationfans/9422p House was built in 1987, so that makes it 37 years old. The pic shows the wirng diagram label on the inside of the heater housing. The heater specifies two 250W IR BR40 lamps. There is a small fan inside the...

Batteries for Makita Impact Gun DTW700XV

https://www.makita.ca/index2new.php?event=tool&id=3596&catid=2 I bought one a couple of months ago and am getting about 130 ft lbs of "nut busting torque" instead of the advertised 740 ft lbs. I am using 3AH Makita batteries which have been used in my drill for the last eight years. I am...

2 1/2 Year Old Brake Fluid

DMM probes held apart an inch in the fluid indicates about 15 MOhm (and climbing very slowly) resistamce. I don't think this test gives us any useful information.
