    Cooper CS5'

A lot of BITOG'ers have tires from one of Cooper's CS5 lines. I have two different sized sets of Ultras on two cars. One used to be an all-year-long set but now is only used during warm months. The other has only been used during warmer weather. Work well so far in all conditions although I...

Using 5W30 in Hyundai/Kia 4 Cylinder Theta Engines

No issues in running 5w20, 5w30, 10w30, 0w20, 0w30 grades in the pre-GDI 2.4L engine. I have one of those engines in my 2009 Hyundai Sonata. UOA showed better wear with 30 grade oil but not that huge of an improvement. FWIW, I now run mostly 5w30 but it's mostly because of what I have on the...

if i keep my old tires will DT charge me disposal?

Probably state-specific. In my case, DT stores is Michigan would remove the fee from the final bill but I have to specify when making payment that I'm keeping old tires or that the wheels that the tires are going to be mounted on are brand new.

    My Winter Tire thread

SubLGT: Thanks for posting. That was news to me. It's interesting that Nokian is bringing back the 7 via DT and its entry-level line when it seems like it's a pretty old design by now. Maybe they've always done it: old Hakka = new Nordman?

    kelly tires

Kelly is an entry-level Goodyear brand. I don't think Goodyear rebates ever include Kelly. So while Kelly tires usually have lower list prices, after rebates Goodyear tires may be a better deal. As someone else mentioned, checking out Discount Tire or Discount Tire Direct this time of year is...

Lug Nuts for Snow Wheels on a Mazda Van

On my 2014 Mazda5 van, I'm running stock 16" alloy wheels for three seasons with all-season tires and will soon put on Mazda6 16" steelies with winter tires for the cold time of the year. I'm pretty sure the existing lug nuts are stock OEM. Should I use a different set for the steel wheels or...

    Subaru Forester 2.5 durability

Mine -- 2002 Forester with SOHC 2.5L non-turbo boxer and 4EAT -- ran like a champ. UOA picked up coolant in oil at one point. The cylinder head gasket started weeping a bit. No overheating. I got it replaced at a local independent garage. When heads were checked, they came back with a great...

    Firestone Destination LE2

My FIL and MIL have these on their F150. The vehicle is not babied and neither are tires. Not even sure if they get rotated regularly. My FIL says they have been wearing well and overall have been a good tire. I think they have been on for 50k miles or so.

Primewell Recalls 400,000 Tires in the USA

I've never been part of a tire recall. Hopefully never will. Curious how it works... The article reads: "Giti Tire states that recalled tyres will be replaced free of charge, including mounting, balancing, and taxes." Do customers get new tires of same brand only? Is original receipt required...

    Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring Wear

Just to provide an update. The toe was off a bit (and got fixed) but overall the vehicle was in alignment. Suspension parts checked out ok. The mechanic didn't really think the wear was all that uneven. One thing that is worth noting is that Cooper's Web site is not very accurate. I thought...
