Which Oil and Filter, and Why

Im not going to be following a 3k oil change interval, that was what I used to do prior to doing a ton more research. My truck has an oil life monitor so more than likely my oil change intervals will end up somewhere between 3k and the olm. I'm not looking to push an oil to its limits, I am...

Which Oil and Filter, and Why

Hey all, I'm looking to see what you all would recommend for my '05 Silverado 5.3 but more importantly why. I had been using M1 5/30 EP and a K&N oil filter and for the last two changes I have been using Amsoil SS 5/30 and an EA oil filter. I'm not comfortable with extended intervals, when I...

Hey all, This will be the second oil change for our '14 Accord. The car currently has bulk 0w20 in it from the dealer and oem Honda filter. I can get Mobil1 AFE for the same price as Amsoil XL, of the two which is a better performing oil? I can get both Amsoil and Mobil1 locally. Whichever...

    05 Silverado 5.3 UOA

Hello, Here's my first UOA ever! I've been running Mobil1 in this truck since I've owned it, as well as the previous owner. Is Amsoil going to be a waste of my money if I change according to the OLM?

Also if the case that Amsoil XL is not leaps and bounds better, my dealer will change the oil with Mobil1 and a ACDelco filter for 64.99 which makes it very appealing to not DIY...

    Educate me about Amsoil

I just checked pricing on XL and Signature. What are the differences between the two? It's a $2/qt difference, while that's not much at all what if any benefits are here with Signature Series. I will not be going over 7.5k per OCI. It seems that Amsoil is supposed to be the better oil, but why?

    Educate me about Amsoil

Wow. Thanks for the info! What makes Amsoil better than Mobil1? I'm going to extend the intervals until the OLM on both my truck and car. Signature would be the too of the line? What makes it or even oem or XL better than mobil1. Oil is cheap so cost isn't a huge issue, and I would prefer to...

    Educate me about Amsoil

I recently made the switch to Amsoil Signature Series for my Silverado. However I am a bit OCD when it comes to maintainance and will more than likely change the oil well before I see any benefit from an extended OCI. I can get Amsoil at PC prices. I also have a 2014 Accord to consider now as...

In regards to the oil filter for my Silverado what's recommended? I know the AC's have switched design? In the case of following my OLM Mobil1 would be more ideal? The Honda does have VCM.
