TTP- when buying Toyota OEM parts from local area dealerships

Thanks. I thought GON misspelled TIP in the title, but then I saw him use that acronym again and didn't know what it meant, either.

Creating a CV to send to a company hiring manager.

Good stuff. I'd also add to keep the formatting on the simpler side and not get fancy. I've had some come across my desk that were very hard to read.

Creating a CV to send to a company hiring manager.

We used the terms interchangeably at my work. CV leans more to academia but they are the same thing to me.

Monkey 47 is very good but also expensive.

    Gin recommendations?

For gin and tonics, I like the stronger flavored gins like unique Hendricks, strong but balanced Tanqueray, or especially the very moderately priced juniper heavy Gordon's. I don't drink martinis so have no opinion on what's best in them. And get a nice tonic water like Fever Tree.

Worth the money or should I do it myself?

My local repair shop where I take my vehicles when the job exceeds my skills or is just easy to pay someone, would very likely say the brakes are safe and send the vehicle back to me no charge. Brakes can often squeak and groan and be safe. As mentioned above, examine the brakes for safety...

I can't work on my cars anymore.

I used to do brakes but the Toyota brakes a pain in the butt. The ears need to be grinded down and the shims never fit right for me. I had a car years ago that the brake pads had a concentric spring like thing that fit inside the caliber. Those were easy to work on.

assisted stranger; she was unfamiliar with new hybrid CR-V

This is a very smart way to explain it. My father in law just got a supra-pubic catheter. It's simply a hose that goes through his abdomen directly into his bladder. They inflate a little balloon around the hose so it doesn't pull out. You attach a urine bag to the catheter via a hose barb...

Drain and refill 235K transmission fluid?

Was either Auto Zone or AAP. I didn't look at other stores.

Drain and refill 235K transmission fluid?

Do they still sell MaxLife? I tried to buy it last month and they only had this one so I assumed it replaced MaxLife.

$6 - $10 increase on oils (5qt jugs) in Walmart this morning July/2026

I have 35 quarts in my garage. I'll weather the storm. Especially at my 10k mile oci's it's 4 to 5 years worth.

    Post your last tire/wheel purchase

The TPMS in that tire has been on the fritz and I was waiting to get new tires to replace it. It was probably 10 psi by the time I got to a rest stop to check it. Of course the TPMS starting working after I aired it up. It started at 35 psi and slowly and steadily dropped to 23 psi in the...

Reusing Oil Filter during Oil Change, but Dumping Old Oil Out?

Don't forget cigarettes. They're expensive. At a pack a day habit for 20 years, investing that money instead of buying smokes, and you'd have enough for new Corvette. Your point is very valid, over time a $10 or $20 non essential daily habit adds up to some serious moolah.

    Post your last tire/wheel purchase

My old Kuhmos were getting very loud on the highway. They were extra loud yesterday and I decided that I had to get something quieter. Driving home yesterday on the NJTPK my Camry was very shaky and felt unsafe above 65mph. Finally stopped at a rest stop and I had a deflated tire. Saw the...

House passes bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent

I've only been retired for a few days, but days of the week and time of day have a lot less meaning than they used to.

A nagging question about oil Flash Point?

My understanding: It's not a test of quality, it's a QC test to confirm the batch was blended properly, it establishes a baseline for future testing for fuel dilution, it establishes what safety protocols are required for flammable liquids.
