    Used 2006 Ford Taurus

Wolf359 - that is the one. I did not get it for $3250 (wasn't even the highest bidder) but I called and offered them slightly more and they accepted. It is supposed to be a clean vehicle with a good bill of health from their service department (not that it really means too much). I'm not afraid...

    Used 2006 Ford Taurus

cmorr - No, Champaign Honda in Illinois. After my flight and gas to drive back, the car is about $1200 less than the best deal I could seek out locally. Still, $1200 is not worth buying a piece of junk and driving it home so I plan to give it a good look over when I get down there. Thanks...

    Used 2006 Ford Taurus

I might be wrong, but I thought the AX4N has decent reliability and the S was the problem child. Dealer claims the fluid is bright red and clean, I will still service it first thing. Is the cam position sensor chirp sounds like a belt chirp? which side of the engine? Thanks

    Used 2006 Ford Taurus

Just bought a 2006 Taurus off of eBay and I go to pick it up on Saturday. It has the Vulcan 3.0L, AX4N transmission and 104k miles. Other than normal items (fluids, brakes, tires, etc., which the dealer claims to have already checked out) what other issues should I be looking for? I am not...

Pennzoil multi-vehicle ATF is now fully synthetic

Anybody use this in a Mercon V application yet? I noticed the QS version of this fluid at Menard's for $4/qt...seems like a great price for a synthetic ATF that is approved for Mercon V. The next lowest price I can find is MAG 1(synthetic) for $5/qt on Amazon and locally Castrol or Valvoline...

Shopping for used 2 stage snowblower

I am also in the market for a new (to me) snowblower and agree with the used prices...ridiculous. I am done battling with a 60's unit that I cannot get parts for repair. I started looking around at new. Any chance that the big box stores carry a decent product for homeowner use? Mostly looking...

    Schaeffer 5w20 - really black!

I just dropped the 7000 I had in my F150. It had 6000 miles on it and it was dark amber (same as all other oils). I would say that it is not normal for the Schaeffer's to be turning black that quick, but it doesn't indicate that the oil is in bad shape.

    Timing Belt Opinions

I purchased the t-belt "kit" w/ water pump on eBay for my del Sol. It was OEM Honda and priced about the same as the Gates setup.

After market pistons for a Two stroke.

Any cast piston will do just fine - as long as it is setup properly. I have had great luck with SPIs in snowmobiles, and they are fairly cheap.

How many miles on your clutch?

224,xxx on the del Sol's original clutch. Such a small car doesn't take much clutch slippage to get it rolling.

How often do you change your diff fluid?

I think it is a good idea to dump the factory fill a little early. This is not because the fluid is shot - it is because gears shed metal when they are getting broke in. Most synthetic gear lubes are capable of 100k miles. Change at 30k with a good synthetic and then go the distance on the...

    LE Trans-All EHP Fluid

No - you have to contact a local distributor ("lubrication consultant"). I have one about 15 miles away that will sell me a 5 gal pail for $132 = $6.60/qt. Not too bad if it is truly a superior product to any of the off-the-shelf universal tranny fluids. Plus, I would like to try their gear...

    LE Trans-All EHP Fluid

Anyone have any experience with the Lubrication Engineers EHP transmission fluid. I am considering it for my F-150 (Mercon V) and a '95 Mercury Sable AX4S tranny (Mercon). Any experiences with it? Opinions?

what oil for impact wrench hammercase?

I was actually just pondering the same thing. I thought that grease was the correct product in this case? But, what type of grease to use...? I used to work in a shop that had the small grease gun from the Mac dealer and I just used this maybe once a month without giving thought as to what type...
