Any Partial Coolant Drain Advocates ?

Yep. works depending on how your system is plumbed. Keep the reservoir topped up as it siphons through.

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

New to me 2015 Toyota Sienna FWD 71k Out: ? Factory fill I suspect In: 1 qt leftover genuine WS and 2 qts Maxlife Multi-Vehicle Drained 1.6qt. Refilled 2 qts and did the fill check procedure. Afterward I had a total of 2.2 qts collected (1.6 drain + 0.6 after the first level check procedure)...

Poll: what'd you use in your WS-spec'd AT?

I don't know about y'all but I'm definitely glad to see what others are using. Interesting. I'd like to see more polls like this. Perhaps discussion required before posting. One thing I see here - since folks are able to select more than 1 fluid the poll's percentages total more than 100%. 50%...

Poll: what'd you use in your WS-spec'd AT?

I’ve seen that fluid and agree the price is nice. But never seen written that it’s 100% synthetic.

Poll: what'd you use in your WS-spec'd AT?

Ya cost of WS is not unfair most places. Even amazon. Significantly more as a percentage of Maxlife‘s cost sure ... Anway, cost not a deciding factor for me. Maybe I’ll go with the poll winner here and service my sienna soon.

Poll: what'd you use in your WS-spec'd AT?

What about taking a weight of empty pan vs full pan. Combine that with estimate drain fill volumes. I think measuring tends to undershoot due to transfer losses.

    Toyota WS or Maxlife

Folks, I've been cleared to repost a more robust poll question. Please head to this thread to vote: https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/poll-whatd-you-use-in-your-ws-specd-at.330281/

Poll: what'd you use in your WS-spec'd AT?

This poll had been posted in a less robust manner previously. Those answers are gone, so please vote again. Poll open for 90 days. If you do not meet criteria below, but are interested in results, you can see results without voting. Please answer the poll stating your preferred fluid for your...

    Toyota WS or Maxlife

Ya I guess that will be a new thread. Will post all the options I’ve seen so far and an “other”. Will phrase in a way request what fluids have a actually been used for WS automatic transmission (exlude hybrid transaxle which feels like it’s own thing to me).

    Toyota WS or Maxlife

I combed through the "post your latest" by searching "Toyota" and checking original posts (admittedly imperfect search and probably a small subset of the BITOG population who actually posts their latest change). I added responses from this thread so far. Only 49 responses. Here's what I have...

    Toyota WS or Maxlife

data is fun. Yes quality data from which to draw specific conclusions is a very high bar to clear. Maybe I will comb the “post your latest” thread. Sampling there also biased but whayagunnado?

    Toyota WS or Maxlife

Sent you a message with 2 more of my cents. I’ve seen the question of “can I” addressed in many threads. I believe I can. I was specifically interested in the survey results to help provide context for the “can I” conversations. Are the advocates for Maxlife an outspoken minority? Tough to say...

    Toyota WS or Maxlife

Ok I don’t make the rules. And moderators don’t owe me any justification....but it seems a little off that I wouldn’t be able to poll an either/or question. I think the “other” option acknowledges that there are more than 2 fluid options but I’m curious to break the results into...

    Toyota WS or Maxlife

Let me see if I got this. You’re saying you had smoother shifts on the factory fill and you noticed less smooth shifts after a 3x D/F and pan drop service on your 07 RAV4 which you did at 30k?

    Toyota WS or Maxlife

Toyota folks, what are you using in WS spec’ed transmissions. I have a Sienna with the U660e 71k miles and I’m curious what percent of folks are following the WS mandate and who’s betting on what they think is a better fluid? More interested in polling folks who have taken real action on this...

    Hypothetical transmission question

I agree there is something about scrapping a car that seems unnecessarily wasteful. Beyond the numbers of it. I follow a few F.I.R.E. groups online and consume some podcasts like Choose FI (Financial Independce Retire Early). There definitely are people, a vast minority, who are not focused on...

    Hypothetical transmission question

My original curiosity was around the economics of transmission fluid maintenance. Seems like most of us DIYers find it easily justified to buy a few quarts of atf every so often. I’m not sure it’d be worth paying shop prices frequently. Add onto that the complexity of, if a trans dies at 100k...

    Tracking your DIY maintenance

Very interesting. Naturally I assumed the DIY maintenance would show when you run the report. But I understand why it might not be trustworthy.
