How Often To Change The Air Filter

If you check out the "Motor Oil Bible" found at www.TheMotorOilSite, he goes into depth about air filters. It's about a 175 page read but according to the author, they are responsible for allowing more contamination into the engine than anything else by a long shot and well worth the effort to...

    Rotella T 0W-40

[/qb] Rotells T Syn and Valvoline Synpower are Group III oils. Delvac 1 and Amsoil (except the 7500) are Group IV/V oils (PAO or PAO and ester). [/QB] Are Mobil 1 synpower 5W30 or Amsoil 10w40 motorcycle oil (AMF) group IV? And, what is the difference between Mobil 1 synpower and Mobil 1 supersyn?

    Amsoil filter and synthetic oil

I dunno. Maybe it's the oil filter equivalent to "semi-synthetic" oil or "synthetic blend".

    Rotella T 0W-40

I don't mind spending on oil, afterall it only takes 2.5L per change. Which brings me back to Mobil 1 T&SUV. Is it really Delvac in a different bottle like I've heard here? If so then it is a group IV PAO as well right? Delvac is increasingly hard to come by around these parts.

    Amsoil motorcycle filter?

Well it shows a SMF-109 for the '99 - '02 SV650. I doesn't show a filter for the '03 and newer (second generation). I'll have to find out if this will work on the newer bike and not just assume it will.

    Amsoil motorcycle filter?

Does AMSoil make oil filters to fit motorcycles? New generation Suzuki SV 650 to be specific.

    Amsoil filter and synthetic oil

And are they a synthetic media filter rather than cellulose?

    Rotella T 0W-40

Well, I gotta say...I've done a lot of research on the internet regarding synthetic oils. Since finding this site, I'm discovering that much of what I've learned elsewere is not true. One reason I'm interested in Group IV PAO is time not mileage. I've been lead to believe that dino based oils...

    Rotella T 0W-40

Hmmmm. Well that throws a lot of my research out the window. So tell me...which oils ARE group IV PAO?

    Rotella T 0W-40

My research indicates that Shell Rotella T synthetic is PAO group IV and contains no group III base oils.

    Rotella T 0W-40

By-the-way, your are right about Duron. It is a hydrocracked group III oil. I am after PAO group IV. So far all I have come up with is Delvac1, Rotella T syn, Valvoline SynPower and Amsoil. I have never heard much on any web forum about the Valvoline product although that is what I have in my...

    Rotella T 0W-40

Just got an e-mail reply from Shell Canada and they say that Rotella T synthetic 5W-40 is available here?! I asked if it was the same product as the American 5w40 that is so popular there. Stay tuned...

    Help! Petro-Can synthetic good?

Well the Shell Rotella T SB synthetic 0W40 available at Canadian Tire is 100% synthetic (PAO I assume) but I have been warned off using it in a bike engine.

    Help! Petro-Can synthetic good?

Your right, they are a hydrocracked group III. I just delved further into the bowels of the Petro-Can website. I'm after group IV PAO oils for my motorcycle and 4X4. Does Esso XD-3 fall under that catagory?

    Help! Petro-Can synthetic good?

Not being up on my oil technology or chemistry, how do you tell if a particular synthetic oil is of a high quality? The oils in question are Petro-Can's Duron (heavy duty diesel) synthetic and their Synthetic Passenger Car oil. I have downloaded as much technical info from their website as I...

    Rotella T 0W-40

Well I checked out the Rotella Forums and found out some valuable info. Seems like one of the best synthetic "diesel" oils out there for use in a motorcycle is made right here in Canada. Petrocanada Duron full synthetic 5W-40. I'll look into this more to be sure but I'm told it's C-4 Allison and...

    Mobil1 0w-40

Well I have a question then. Having done oil research elsewere prior to finding this site, others have badmouthed Mobil 1 because it is no longer 100% synthetic. I'm sure this has been discussed here ad nausium but I'm new so bear with me. I heard that Mobil 1 was the best stuff out there. Then...

John. I can't find it so far. Is it part of the Shell Canada site?
