RockAuto filters for my Pontiac Vibes

I’m thinking of stocking up on these filters from RockAuto. $1.65 is an unbelievable deal for an oil filter. Figure the more i buy the more i’ll save on shipping. These would be for my 3 Pontiac Vibes with religious 5k OCI’s. Are Pro-Tec any good? Which would yall pick from their listed filters?

Oil for cars that sit for months at a time

Yeah, over the years I've heard just about every opinion out there on engine break-in. Some guys say change the oil and filter after the first 50–100 miles, then again around 500–1,000 miles, and after that just stick to your normal 3k–5k mile intervals. Others say run synthetic from day one...

Oil for cars that sit for months at a time

Storage and start up protection is what i’m looking for in these rarely driven classics. Also see so many different opinions on when to go full synthetic

Oil for cars that sit for months at a time

Driven HR2 is looking pretty attractive as well. Not as expensive as i was originally thinking for a boutique oil. Looks like no 5 quart jugs though.

Oil for cars that sit for months at a time

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sorry to respond so late, i got busy with dealing with my dad. He’s getting really old… I will stick to my yearly OCI’s. 6 month OCI’s/UOA’s sounds unnecessary and expensive. I’m trying to save money where i can. Bang for the buck kinda guy lol! I have too many...

Oil for cars that sit for months at a time

I have a few cars that sit alot. Only driven locally here in Northern California maybe every 1-2 months. I’m thinking of switching it up a bit for my yearly OCI’s on them. Considering 10w30 VR1 conventional or Lucas Hot Rod & Classic. What would you run in each of these mostly stored vehicles...

BluePrint Engines says to not go synthetic until 9000 miles?

I drive these classic cars maybe once or twice a month and mostly local so 9000 miles will probably take me 15 to 20 years lol! I’m just gonna run VR1 or Lucas Hot Rod & Classic for now and continue my annual OCI’s. I still plan on going full synthetic maybe when I reach 2-3k mi.

BluePrint Engines says to not go synthetic until 9000 miles?

I can’t edit my original post, but I should’ve stated this since i found out later. WARRANTY IS NOT VALID ANYMORE. IT’S 30 MONTHS OR 50K MILES. WHICHEVER COMES FIRST The car was completed over 3 years ago. With how often i drive all my cars it’ll take several years for me to reach 9k miles 😆 So...

BluePrint Engines says to not go synthetic until 9000 miles?

Ok so the Blueprint warranty is for 30 months/50,000 miles since purchase, whichever comes first. It’s way passed 30 months so warranty is out the window. The entire build only has 1400 miles on it. Should i keep going with the conventional or synthetic?

BluePrint Engines says to not go synthetic until 9000 miles?

I always thought that after initial break-in, 500–1000 miles would be good to go full synthetic. Here’s the quote off their website. “This break in oil can be used for the first 500 miles, during the break in of your new crate engine. It has been specially formulated with the following...

Switching to Mobil 1 0W-40 European Car Formula from Mobil 1 5W-30

I use Mobil 1 0w40 in a bunch of our cars here. My wife’s Pontiac Vibe (Toyota 1.8L) is at 260k miles and i never have to top it off within my 5k OCI’s. Still runs like a top!

Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40 vs Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w40

I’m using Mobil 1 0w40 in several cars & i live in NorCal. You’re up in even colder weather, I’d definitely be using an 0w. Alota cheap choices from Walmart too! All within a few bucks of each other.

You know what, you might be right. Maybe my BMW’s cartridge filter was a Mahle not Mann

Which brands come with drain plug gaskets?

Yeah i reuse most of them as well, but the one on my sister’s GLK looked a bit worn/looser fitting than the normal

Which brands come with drain plug gaskets?

Recently, I changed the oil on my sister‘s Mercedes-Benz GLK 350. She brought over Mobil 1 oil and an Mobil 1 cartridge filter. It did not come with a drain plug gasket (copper). IIRC Mann cartridge filters came with them. Any other brands that come with the copper gaskets?
