Oil change for Porsche 718 2.T

2018. I think they changed the spec for the 2019 or 2020 model year.

Oil change for Porsche 718 2.T

Thanks everyone, I will stick with the M1.

Oil change for Porsche 718 2.T

Why would they be weirded out by it? Its not uncommon to bring your oil of choice to a shop to have them perform the work.

Oil change for Porsche 718 2.T

Have an appointment in a few days for oil service at a local shop for my 718 cayman. They tend to fill with Liquimolly 5w40 but I have a few jugs of M1 5w40 FS I was thinking to bring with me and use instead. Both oils carry the A40 approval (along with most of the same German mfg approvals) so...

Mobil1 5W40 FS x2: What is the point?

Good questions. Porsche has a longstanding recommendation of M1 products. No doubt they have developed a trust and reliance on their products performance. As for the Liqui Moly preference by my local shop... perhaps its because its a boutique/specialty oil? Makes it feel more "custom" than an...

Mobil1 5W40 FS x2: What is the point?

Let me rephrase - prefers it to M1. I am indifferent as they both carry the A40 approval. Just relaying my experience.

Mobil1 5W40 FS x2: What is the point?

Interesting how Liquimoly is lacking in moly compared to M1 lol. I have been using Liquimoly 5w40 in my Cayman requiring Porsche A40 spec because my local indy shop swears by it and prefers it to M1 0w40.

Interesting wonder how it compares to their 0w40

Porsche's own factory race team apparently uses M1 0w-40 FS

Interesting stuff, thanks for posting! Oddly enough, there seems to be a real aversion to using M1 0w40 by the folks on Rennlist even though its the primary lubricant recommended by Porsche. Many seem to suggest using M1 5w50 instead under the guise of "thicker is better".

Porsche's own factory race team apparently uses M1 0w-40 FS

Why is everyone so skeptical of Porsche, which has a long standing relationship with M1, using their flagship oil in their competition cars?

    BMW (S55) M3 - What LL01 or LL01FE oil?

I always used Castrol 0w40 LL-01 when I had my F80 M3 but I did not run an E85 tune.

Mobil 1 FS European Car Formula Full Synthetic Motor Oil 0W-40

Looks like M1 now has a new FS oil in 5w40 which seems a little redundant with the 0w40. This one is "FS X2"... so 2x as good lol? Any thoughts on this? https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-vehicles/our-products/products/mobil-1-fs-x2-5w-40

    Porsche A40 spec?

Just picked up a 718 Cayman which is my first venture into the world of Porsches. Coming from years of BMW ownership, the Porsche spec seems more straight forward as it simply calls for an A40 approved oil in 0w40, 5w40, or 5w50. Porsche seems to recommend M1 which of course offers the readily...

Acceptable amount of time to get up to speed?

As someone who loves to drive fast, I honestly dont understand how anyone can drive below the speed limit and/or not accelerate at least at a moderate pace if not a brisk pace. If I am at a red light and the first one in line I am always getting on the gas heavily once the light turns green. The...
