I know enough about Oil to know M1 and M5000 are not the same type of oil in base or adds but I know they are made by the same company and I wanted to relate the way my oil felt in the 4.3 to the other dude's reply about M1 and the 4.3 engine.

Well dude ... I honestly would stick with wut has been used in this truck already ... Castrol GTX. The only neg about this oil is the 10 dollar cost normaly ... but then most of the other oils are near or just as much depending where you buy them. --Idoxash--

I have the same engine from a 99 s-10 and honestly I've tried 15w-40, 5w-40(Rotella Syn) 10w-30, 5w-30, 5w-20 ... now i've not dun any sort of testing on the oils but the engine runs great on all of those oil grades. Pick one or something like that. NOTE: Other then the Rotella Syn I used which...

61.20/12=5.1 ... $5.10 a bottle for grp III oil is as bad Castrol doing with their stuff. Besides I can buy M1 much cheaper then that and at least will have a longer lasting sny oil. I'm not dissing the Amsoil brand or how well it might work inside of someone's engine but my opinion anything...

I'm sure there other auto makers that produce a lite-truck ... I know Toyota makes a small truck that's about the size of an s-10. Don't know to much about it ~ which I need to research since I'm ready to replace my s-10 and want another lite-truck. Since GM can't fill that spot for me any...

which makes it bad for ppl like me that only drives 16 mile one way to work and then back. i can be at my job in 20 to 25 mins on a normal day unless i'm doing 80 hehe and make it there in 15 mins ... maybe we all should use something super thin like water! jk --Idoxash--

Not knowing to much about OIL stats something tells me thoe that they just told you the "normal/avg/base" stats of wut a 5w-20 and or 10w-30 is ... not the real stats of their oil! I'd say Castrol sed wut it took to make you leave them along, lol. ... OL well that sucksness --Idoxash--

I know on my ol tempo that thing has this odd short or something where it won't start up just by turning the key. What I have to do sometimes is hold the key into the start and push the throttle pedal down ... this then fires up that ol car ... dun know if that some odd short or just some odd...

Thanks for the replies. When I checked my oil and wipe the end of the dip stick on some cloth towls that's when I notice a few particals of shiny metal. As for filters I been useing SuperTechs. It might be true that those metal particals could be beded within grime ect ... and are floating...
