Dealers are the only people I see extolling the unmatched virtues of Amsoil. While I am sure Amsoil is good oil, it is not some magical elixir that will make engines last forever, add 10MPGs, makes engines silent, etc.

2.4L naturally aspirated engine. People have complained about Hyundai's dreaded GDI engine, but this one has been rock solid. The only thing I have ever done repair-wise is this oil pan.

No, I have never had to add oil until this oil pan crack happened. I have found that changing oi land filter every 5K miles is a good interval for having an engine last a really long time.

Me too. While I am sure Amsoil, Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 1 Extended Performance, Royal Purple, etc., are good oils, the claims they make are lets just say, ludicrous.

I realize that, but also I have pulled oil pans before that the bottom of the pan was full of sludge. The bottom of this pan was beautifully clean.

I ended up using the Permatex The Right Stuff 90 minute gasket maker. I got it from Walmart. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Permatex-Right-Stuff-Black-90-Minute-Silicone-Gasket-Maker-75228/ It seemed to work quite well. No leaks so far.

Apparently Valvoline Maxlife ATF and Amsoil Signature Series ATF are spec'd to be used where Honda 3.1 is used.

So there is a difference between the Mopar ATF and the Honda ATF?

It appears that these two fluids are the same since both Honda and Chrysler use the same ZF9 transmission. The Honda fluid is about $30 a quart while the Mopar fluid is about 1/2 the price. If they are indeed the same, it would be a no brainer to use the Mopar fluid. Any thoughts?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Project Farm did a test on synthetic oils and concluded the same thing. I would wager that full synthetic oils from: Rural King Full Synthetic Farm and Home Full Synthetic Are the same too.
