All of today's gun oils are very good. I use mostly FS-10 on most of my firearms and Rem Oil on some others. It's difficult to believe that motor oil would work better than these excellent gun oils.

I believe that any oil, if it's SM, GF4 rated, should do fine regardless of the brand name. Just my opinion of course.

If the bottle has SM/GF-4 on it, then it's good for at least 8,000 miles. Please see the Consumer Reports oil test published in 1996. Oil is a commodity and the advertising/marketing is the only difference in today's excellent oils.

I have no preference for any brand as long as it's rated SM and GF-4. I buy Walmart's SuperTech for about $7.50 for a five quart bottle because it's priced OK and is very available.

Motorcraft oil is a blend of conventual and synthetic oils. Does anyone know for sure what percentage is synthetic? Thanks.

In my opinion, any oil of the proper viscosity that is rated SM will do fine. I'd buy whatever is priced the lowest.
