How long does the total quartz last in the engine? I had my oil changed almost 6 months ago and only driven 2500 miles. Is there a concern for oil breaking down over time with few miles?

It was a good price for synthetic, also the mechanic recommended it. He has a good reputation locally as well with family members that use his services. I didn't know about the darkening of the oil part I do thank you for that info.

How about changing the oil filter? seems that would be a good choice to keep the oil clean.

Made by Kendal. This is not the toyota pink stuff. So should I worry? The mechanic said this was toyota approved. Also heard not having toyota atf was not a good thing for the tranny? any thoughts, advice from those who know would be really nice. also the mechanic/ owner a good one and honest.
