    Chainsaw Advice

I found a Stihl 019T on the side of the road a few years ago and it's the best chain saw I've ever had. Compared to a poulan the chains and bars last longer and cut more wood The engine is easy to start and very powerful for a small saw. Plus it is noticibly lighter and easier to handle than any...

guards on or off on your trimmer.

So, this weekend I did some trimming and figured out why I prefer not having the guard on. I realized I can trim all the way around poles and small trees without actually having to walk all the way around the pole or tree. Works especially well with street signs, mail box poles, sapplings with a...

    Weed Eater String problems

On of the best tricks I've found is to keep the trimmer line wet until you are ready to use it. As trimmer line gets older it gets dry, stiff and brittle. This causes the line to misfeed and break in the spool. If you soak the line over night in a bucket of water it will feed much better and...

guards on or off on your trimmer.

I run my weed beater with no guard. Seems lighter and easier to get into tight places. But, with my 32cc motor it really slings debris all over the place. Safety googles and long pants are a must. When I'm done I have leaves and grass plastered on my legs and in my hair. MxTrail

    A close call

My counter shaft seal started puking oil all over the road. Didn't notice till I went out at lunch time and saw a hugh puddle under the bike, then noticed the oil trail where I been leaking all the way from home. Bike felt a little squirelly but wasn't bad on the slow commute to work. KiLler250

    Motorcycle clutch slipping

Hi Cglenn, Went thru the same thing with my bike. At 4,000 miles I decided to try a synthetic. I noticed the clutch slipping at highway speeds after the swap out so I immediatly switched back to good old dino and haven't had any more problems in the last 12,000 miles with the clutch. Good luck...

    mobil1 15w50 and clutch slippage

Yes, Absolutly, the Amsoil 20w50 Racing Synthetic made my clutch slip at highway speeds. With the dino oil my clutch does not slip. I now have 16,000 miles on this clutch and the only time it slipped was when I used Amsoil in the engine. Because of this I will always run dino oil in this bike...

auto 10w/40 ok for wet clutch

Moontan, I've been using Valvoline dino 10w40 in my 2001 KL250 with no problems. I've been told to avoid oils that say "energy conserving" on the label. The only oil I've had a problem with was Amsoil 20w50 Synthetic Racing. This caused my wet clutch to slip at highway speeds. I put the dino oil...

    WD-40 o-ring test

Hi Guys, I have 16,000 miles on an OEM O-ring chain and I've used lot's of WD-40 on it. I have also used Triflow and 90 weight gear lube on it as well. I alternate between the three. I usually maintain my chain once a week. My rear sprocked is still looking good but I've replaced the counter...

    mobil1 15w50 and clutch slippage

Yeah, when my KL250 was still new (around 4k miles) I tried Amsoil 20w50 racing full synthetic and it made my clutch at highway speeds. I immediatly switched back to dino 10w40 and have had no slippage since. (Whew) KL250

    Chainsaws?

I used Poulan saws for years cutting firewood for my dad. I thought it was normal to have to adust the chain slack every 15 minutes. A couple of years ago I found a Stihl 019T on the side of the road. I got it running and I immediately noticed how much better this saw is over the Poulans. It...

Does anyone have the April issue of Consumer Reports? I'd like some trimmer info.

I just recently purchased a Craftsman 32cc Gas Lawn Trimmer model #79158 and it's been the best trimmer I've ever had. I was reluctant to buy the 32cc at first fearing the weight issue, but after using it to beat down vines, stickers, tall grass, small trees, etc, I'm sold on this one. The 25cc...

    what is everybodys change interval?

Hi All, I have a KL-250 (aka Super Sherpa) with 15,000 miles. I've been changing my oil whenever the gears start shifting rough and she starts finding alot of false neutrals. This works out to an OTI of around 1,200 miles. I use dino 10w40. KL250
