The Current New Truck Market Is In Trouble

For the same reason airline companies are introducing more premium seats and less economy seats. Usually conversation is about 1%. That is not issues. It is that 70-75% of people’s purchasing power went dramatically down, while PP of 10-15% went dramatically up. This is of course unsustainable...

The Current New Truck Market Is In Trouble

I didn’t get merit raise since 2018. All raises came from moving up in positions, and assuming more work. Next year I am taking dual supervisory position which means more responsibility but $5,000 bump in paycheck. I am locked into this job because benefits (generous without doubt) but more...

BMW z3 coupe 3.0l inline six Valvoline Restore and protect Opinons

Aa far as I am concerned people can run extra virgin oil. This engine runs only Euro oils or sometimes Motul 300V 5W40 and has seen oil temperatures as high as 302f on track with 5k OCI on that oil (Mobil 1 0W40):

The Current New Truck Market Is In Trouble

I am making in current job around $36,000 more than when I started it in 2013. But I am holding much higher position, plus some extra work related to supervisory position. If you calculate inflation, I am actually making same, almost to the dollar. But, holding higher position and being...

    UPS MD-11 Crashes on Takeoff

It was actually 11% less fuel efficient than A340-300. FinnAir took order from Yugoslav Airlines (JAT) which supposed to be launch customer, but break up of Yugoslavia stopped that order. By 1991, FinnAir was complaining about fuel consumption and than AA really pushed the conversation. I think...

2018 Toyota Sequoia 92,600mls. Out: Denso Air filter after 15,000mls. In: Denso: AC filter after 15,000mls: Out: WIX In: MAHLE. I must say that WIX was perfect fit! MAHLE kind of has play in the box:

Purolator one air filters spotted at Walmart

I checked yesterday some, and I am sad to say, but FRAM looked like higher quality. At least based on material how it feels.

2025 Toyota Tundra SR Loaner - I really hate this truck!

Idk what “good reliability “ means, but definitely doesn’t mean grenading engines at 3,000mls or overheating transmissions in vehicles with few hundred miles. But, Toyota crowd will always find excuse: “i know your engine locked up, but on bright side, you could have bought Supra and have leaky...

This is first time I am running them. I ran OE, Mobil 1. From my understanding they should be of good quality. I got them when they had sale of Castrol Edge 0W30. But, not sure they add any value over OE.

They run that all the time! But then they come to BMW DIY Facebook page and: "My VANOS solenoids are bad. IDK what caused it, I ran full synthetic oil all the time."

K&N HP-7038 oil filter failed at end cap

Euro manufacturers generally use very good filters. Stick to MANN, Mahle or Hengst if not using OE. I have never seen distorted cartridge from those manufacturers and I track car on those filters. I once bought K&N oil filter for BMW becasue I was chasing some sound when I installed oil cooler...

BMW M62TU2 388,000 miles...safe candidate for Valvoline Restore and Protect?

BMW engines run super hot to increase efficiency and power density. So if there is a bit of deposits that esters wash off, it is not surprising. It is 263,000 miles.

Just something to add about WS. Few years back, pour point of WS was -39. Now it is below -50. I think there is a good reason why they switched to better stock.

2025 Toyota Tundra SR Loaner - I really hate this truck!

Based on pour point, it is PAO or Ester as it is below -50c. It is actually very good fluid. But, hiking up temperature in transmission in my Sequoia here at altitude over 225 just around town is piece of cake. Over mountain passes, like Eisenhower tunnel, easily 240f, without pushing it.

Changed oil on friend’s 2014 Toyota RAV4. 155,000 on the clock. Out: Mobil1 ESP 0W20 X2 and Mobil 1 filter. In: Valvoline Restore & Protect 0W20 and Toyota filter. The engine always consumed oil since they bought it with some 120k miles. There is small leak on VCG, but not that much to amount...
