Motul tech says group 3+ on phone conversation

They drop some ester content in it. But they are not using GTL for example which many like to call Group 3+. They use very good Group III though.

GM 1.5L Turbo - Help Me Pick an Oil!

There is fuel-related shearing and mechanical shearing. Fuel-related issues are easy to deal with. Just exercise your car now and then. I would use Mobil1 ESP 0W30. It has higher ZDDP content than ESP 5W30, and unlike 5W30 it is ester, PAO and GTL. If you are staying with 0W20, ESP 0W20 X2 is...

UOA is analysis of oil not engine. Only time you can figure something is going with an engine is if you wear is 10ppm, next time 20, next time 30ppm etc. What you have here could be product of more city driving, colder weather, oil leaching more metals bcs. certain additives or base stocks.

Using Porsche C30 instead of C20 in the EA839 engine

0W30 will give you more protection margin. Pushing vehicle, towing etc.

    Increased Boost vs Viscosity?

I am with @RDY4WAR. 5W40. 15W40 might not be of the same quality as it is just cheaper to make. I don't think you have HPL in Australia, or it would be expensive to ship it. Nulon has good 5W40 high-performance oils, Maybe Motul power 5W40. There are always the usual suspects here: Mobil 1...

2019 MB GLK 400 rear brakes. Pad and rotor sugggestions.

Yeah, I am following these prices on import brakes and it is going crazy. I paid ATE rotors for Atlas $88 a piece, now it is $162.

Does Size Matter? Engine Displacement….How Low Can They Go?

Man I got caught passing 4 18 wheelers (or whatever is equivalent in Europe) with this: 1.1ltr, 55hp. Not sure how many of those horses were alive. The cop on BMW motorcycle kind of didn’t have issues catching up.

2019 MB GLK 400 rear brakes. Pad and rotor sugggestions.

What is quality? Not braking in half while braking? Yes, they are from that standpoint high quality product. From performance standpoint they are garbage. Absolute garbage! So, why going than Mercedes at all? On Lexus mediocre brakes are standard. When Lexus upgrades brakes on F models, it...

2019 MB GLK 400 rear brakes. Pad and rotor sugggestions.

I currently have Jurid on my BMW. I would say just bit less aggressive than OE.

2019 MB GLK 400 rear brakes. Pad and rotor sugggestions.

Any of those pads will retain same or close to OE feel. ATE will be most aggressive.

GLK? They stopped making those in 2015. GLE 400? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/brake-disc-zimmermann-400-3698-20 All these are OEM (ATE is maker of OE): https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mercedes-brake-pad-set-ate-0074208120...

    2025 BMW M340i, factory fill, 1k mi

LSPI doesn’t affect all engines. It is generally trait of Asian and American small turbo engines. No European engine currently or in the last 15yrs had LSPI issue. As for other alternatives, LL04 is thick LL17FE or LL22.

    HPL No-VII Euro 5w30, 9k mi; 2015 BMW X5 N55

The reason why I mentioned is that engine might be older than assembly. But at 181k, no wear indicators of bad bearings, I would say those are updated ones. I personally would not touch it unless metals skyrocket. Just prime system after OFHG. I still think rod bearings primarily fail bcs...

Does Size Matter? Engine Displacement….How Low Can They Go?

It is more complicated than just displacement. BMW 330 doesn’t have any issue to push above 40mpg on interstate. In the city, it can deliver high 20’s or above 30. It is combination of engine sophistication, transmission and aerodynamics. Cheap cars won’t have ZF8 and all the valvetronic and...
