Can you tell if your "new" oil is recycled oil?

Exactly. No matter how many 'nasty bits' are put into the Safety-Kleen collection vat, it can't be worse than pumping it from the dirt.. Honestly, if i could find recycled oil that passes (not just "recommended for...") the requirements for my cars, i would use it. No sense in pumping out of...

    Wallyworld Prices 9/27

The 10w-30 PP at mine was still $19 per jug. I'm going to head over to the other store to see if 5w-30 is available, though. ferb!

    tiptronic service interval

Slightly off topic here, but how did you pump the fluid IN with the Mity? There are a few jobs that i would like a tiny pumper for but i can't for the life of me figure out how to pump IN with it. ferb!

How often for fuel system cleaners?

I'm going on a 5 hour drive next week, so i figured this would be the perfect time for a fuel system cleaner. Picked up my favorite Berrymans bottle, but now i'm curious as to "how often is TOO often"? I did the last application 7 months ago. I plan on using the whole 16oz bottle with 16...

    tiptronic service interval

Okay, i know i have a lesser model, but i didn't know that pump-in was a benefit to the expensive one.. Hm. Have to think about getting one of those, now. ferb!

Napa Gold vs Purolator air filter

Darn. I just bought a Purolator today-- guess it'll go back. I have a Grand Prix with the same filter as your Aztek (A24880), so if the WIX is better sealing in your application, it'll likely be exactly the same in mine. ferb!

    pour point

Well.. Assuming Tech2000 is made by Petro Canada, it's -36C. If it's indeed made by Sinoil ( http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=002911#000001 ) then i can't help ya. =) ferb!

    New Napa Gold Filters

So the ads during NASCAR with Michael Waltrip talking about the new "spin-flow technology" are incorrect? I went poking around Wix's webpage and couldn't find anything about it. ferb!

    Problems shipping UOA sample?

I would toss mine in the box, but then i worry about it being 'spotted' and pulled out of circulation. Then i'm out two-bucks postage and a sample. I'm worried enough as it is, that once they agree it's non-hazardous, i'm getting a tracking number. ferb!

    Problems shipping UOA sample?

So i took my first sample happily to the post office (even took that "nothing wrong here" letter from Blackstone's webpage) and they STILL say it's hazardous. Funny thing was, ALL of the postal employees wanted to hear the manager tell me it was unsafe. Like they're exposing the vile oil mailer...

    GM Supercharger fluid

So the smell is just there to scare children and make women scream? It really does smell like old whale oil, which is why i always thought it had "different" properties than a conventional turbine oil. ferb!

    GM Supercharger fluid

I haven't heard anything about foaming, i have just heard about a "misting" lubrication. That the mist caused by the churning lubricates. But i think everything that goes on in the snout is a mystery to us. ferb!

    Pennzoil Synchromesh Wins!

On a Mitsu Evo board that i frequent, they all seem to be under the assumption that Pennzoil Synchromesh, while being easy shifting, is burning up the synchro clutches faster. And that something that hammers into gear would be "better". On the surface i don't agree-- if your synchros aren't...

Dexron II, Dexron III, Mercon, +4?

Have a look-see here: http://www.widman.biz/Aplicaciones/ATF/atf.html It's by our Bolivian buddy widman and shows (albeit in Spanish) the frictional differences of DexIII, F, +3, etc. I'll keep looking around for the history of the ATF-- i've always wanted to know too. ferb!

    Montana tranny oil change

The 4t65e doesn't have readily available aftermarket pans. The MSP pan previously listed is about it. I would have loved a replacement pan with welded plug threads, but oh well.. I put in the B&M drain plug (got mine from Pep Boys) and it seems to work well. MUCH better than dumping the 8...

    Lucas product

The latest S54 engine has a problem with the crank bearings being out of tolerance in the Oct '01 - Feb '02 builds. So i don't think he is claiming to have a bearing failure, but saying he MAY get a bearing failure. ferb!

GM intake manifold leak on supercharged car?

Here's a question that is a result of that suggestion: Since Glysantin G-05 is a hybrid OAT (consisting of an organic acid and a little silicates) why should i switch to this when nothing in my engine is aluminum? I was under the assumption that silicates protected the aluminum from corrosion...

    Lucas product

I honestly don't remember what i read about the M-car bearing problem. But since ARC did say BMW "made the tolerences a little tight for this engine", why go to the super-super thick side (60wt with Lucas)? Why not try something thinner to keep the hydrodynamic lubrication up, but with a lot of...

    Lucas product

I'm a little confused as to what you're asking and using. I haven't seen any tests regarding vegetable oil and motor oil, so i don't know what to say. This web site has information about Lucas additive and gear oil, but this doesn't sound like what you're wanting either. Overall, additives...
