    Oil change’s? Not for this 3.2 VR6

At least new things are learned here. Most of the time we hear of bad cams, lifters, chains n guides etc. - something getting ruined. This example shows us how this bit of sludge prevented any major failures from happening. Must be the new thing to strive for. 🤣 🤣

Is having a torque wrench for replacing tires on the road side needed ?

From keeping it preset to torque the lug nuts? 🤣

    Fine German engineering here

Just wait till the day comes your seat on the plane has a nice battery under it, and propellers outside the window flipping around. 🤣 🤣

    Fine German engineering here

That sort of thing didn't happen on US cars in the 50's and 60's, you know back when there were automotive engineers.

Is having a torque wrench for replacing tires on the road side needed ?

So now you have to ask yourself, how did they ever change a tire back before they knew what a torque wrench was? Gosh watch the videos of the mechanics in india or ? That rebuild all sorts of things and never use a torque wrench for any of the bolts etc.

    Oil Consumption After Rebuild (Re-ring)?

A great example of an over costly disposable engine. My lawn mower engine is built better in some respects. Someone mentioned Vega engine, right on. How come all german auto engines are pot metal now? Cheap cheap. 🤣

How worn and stained does a car repair shirt have to get before you toss it?

Yeah so what? Look at a fireperson with all the garb they wear. Try wearing coveralls in that 100, and sitting on a machine that is radiating its 180 degree operating temperature all around you as well, and your face full of dusty dirt, and wearing the now popular mask as well. Oh yeah it was...

    Ford Variable Pressure Oil Pump

Nice how something simple and proven has been turned into a complicated mess. The new saying if it isn't broke, then go and fix it till it does break. 🤣 🤣 Yeah now lets use 0W-8 oil.

How worn and stained does a car repair shirt have to get before you toss it?

If you wear coveralls for the real dirty stuff, that shirt would look like new.

2022-2023 Toyota Tundra Recall - 98,600 vehicles for engine stall/failure issue

Just been a lot of talk, with no real proof.

    2018 Hyundai Tucson - 2.0L GDI G4NC - Oil pan removed

And what can you tell is wearing from those photo's? It must be the massive sludge you noticed? 🤣

    Planned obsolescence!

Because I hear it all the time about the huge recalls ruining the value of the toyota tundra's that people have bought etc. I've always wondered how the TV Sharks show people could buy a car with a multi million dollar evaluation, you know when some one wants 100k for a small percentage of...

    Planned obsolescence!

For all the modern vehicles what parts are going to be no longer available, that will end the life of your top dollar vehicle? For some reason some folks think a new vehicle is some sort of investment?

Mercedes Diesel Misfire After HG Replacement

It sat for years ! The moisture in the fuel tank is from condensation, I'm sure the tank has to be vented so, air containing moisture, etc etc. Grease in the cylinders? That doesn't make sense that it would still be there after he puts the head back on, and grease, there is much better stuff to...

Am I the only one paranoid about giving people a jump start?

This thread was good for a laugh. It so reminds me of the sludge photo threads, great entertainment. First some of us know how to mitigate any chance of a hydrogen gas problem when connecting battery jumpers or cables. Its not a concern to me. Second I would never ever have a lithium jumper...

Spark plug torque: no more +/-?

I have a way to check it, so all is cool my way.

And the whole engine has to be completely taken apart to surface the deck. Otherwise plenty of machining debris will go everywhere. So its not just a simple thing to do. May not be cost effective for a normal shop or owner of said car. And like mentioned above, if your a shop and just does a...

Spark plug torque: no more +/-?

So how accurate is the torque wrench? Yours may tighten it to 17 ftlbs, your friends may tighten it to 22, when both are set to 20.

If you have the proper tools, and don't have to pay someone to do all the work. But then time is $. If you think DIY cost you nothing. Then spend a week or more at your normal job for free then.

Like I've been saying. All the now engines are crap, and made to be disposable.
