    Advantages of using SAE 30?

I was looking at the Kohler 10w30 today while at TSC (price was $3.49/quart) and it is CH-4 rated. I thought this might be interesting to note because now knowing that it is also a HDEO I do feel a little differently about it. This combined with the idea that these manufactures oils might also...

Which weight syn oil to run in my equipment?

I was planning on switching all of my equipment (from 6HP Briggs to 23HP Kawasaki) to Rotella 5w40 but I am rethinking my choice. I originally wanted to run the Rotella since I have this on hand because it is what I run in my trucks. However after a little more reading I am wondering if running...

Rotella 5w40 in my Kawasaki, Kohler, and Honda's?

I read one post, but I cannot remember who now, that suggested that an xW30 oil would show lower wear in these types of engines than a xW40. Any truth to this? I cannot see why this would be true because I have not found this to be the case in my vehicles but maybe these small air cooled...

Rotella 5w40 in my Kawasaki, Kohler, and Honda's?

Just curious, but why the switch to 15w40 in an engine without a filter?

Rotella 5w40 in my Kawasaki, Kohler, and Honda's?

I am running the RTS 5w40 in my 528i BMW and my Dodge Cummins and to make things simpler and possibly provide a little better protection to my other engines, I am considering running RTS 5w40 my lawn maintenance equipment. I am in the lawn care industry so I have several small, air cooled...

Petro Canada Duron Synthetic 5w40, Dodge Cummins, 3848 Miles

Here are the number from an UOA on a 1996 Dodge Cummins. The truck has 132,000 miles on it. It spends 90% of the time towing 4,500lbs. (hardly a load for the truck) in city traffic. FWIW - The truck has been modified with several enhancements to increase fueling and HP. Miles - 3,848 Copper - 1...

    Pennzoil 10w30, 96 Dodge Neon 2.0L

Thanks for the feedback. I must admit that this is the first sample from this engine and I did not have any idea what to expect out of this 2.0L motor. I didn't think 10ppm of iron was too bad, but I guess I didn't consider the big picture, only 2k miles. I have Pennzoil HM in the car now as...

    Pennzoil 10w30, 96 Dodge Neon 2.0L

Thanks Patman, that makes more sense. The real issue I have with this oil is the fact that is thinned to a 20w in only 2k miles. Seeing how we have ruled out fuel dilution as the culprit, is this really that good of an oil. Certainly the wear numbers are great as I would expect them to be with...

    Pennzoil 10w30, 96 Dodge Neon 2.0L

Sorry I forgot the fuel dilution. The analysis was done by Schaffer's. It doesn't list a numerical value for fuel dilution. In the box it has an "N" I assume it stands for normal????

    Pennzoil 10w30, 96 Dodge Neon 2.0L

I got the results back from the oil sample I pulled from my girlfriends Neon. The car is a 1996 and had 79k miles on it at the time of the sample. The sample only has 2,019 miles and just over 2 months of driving. This car is mostly short trip driving. I think the numbers are great with the...

Reducing Oil Consumption - 96 Dodge Neon

Thanks for all the replies. I understand that 1.5 quarts in 2000 miles is not overly excessive, but it is more than I think a 80k miles engine should consume. Perhaps the previous owner did not care to well for this car? Maybe buring a little oil is just the nature of these engines? Well I...

ADBV Problem with Napa Gold (Wix)

I'm glad I am not the only one who has experienced this. Maybe I got the one bad one out of 100, or whatever the percentage is, but I'm still ready to go to something else. I stopped by the local Wally World to grab a ST and they were out of the PN I needed. I might grab a AC-Delco while I'm...

Reducing Oil Consumption - 96 Dodge Neon

Thanks for the replies. There oil is definitely being burned and not leaking. I am aware of the headgasket problems on the Neons but it is not consuming any coolant so I do not think this is the problem. The analysis should help prove that for me. I am under the impression that a conventional...

Reducing Oil Consumption - 96 Dodge Neon

I was under the impression that it is not that good of an idea to run a HDEO in an oil burning car with a CAT and 2 02 sensors. Won't the burning of the HDEO with the additional additives foul up those parts faster? Then again if it cuts consumption I guess that is a moot point.

ADBV Problem with Napa Gold (Wix)

I was reading all about the ADBV valve recently on here and having never experienced a problem with one before I wasn't quite sure what to listen for when the ADBV wasn't working properly. Well I do now. I just installed a Napa Gold filter at my last oil change and I have a pretty heavy amount...

Reducing Oil Consumption - 96 Dodge Neon

My girlfriend drives a 1996 Dodge Neon with the SOCH 2.0 liter motor. The car and motor have 82,000 original miles on it and I have been maintaining it for the last 10,000 miles or so. I was running Pennzoil 5w30 at relatively short drains, around 1500 miles, but I have switched to the Pennzoil...
