Eaton Gear Oil Recommendations for the Truetrac

Installation went well without any issues. I have found the unit to be very smooth in operation. I have not experienced any binding, clunking, nor other unusual sounds or operation. Both the unit and the Redline 75W-140 NS appear to be working as expected.

Eaton Gear Oil Recommendations for the Truetrac

I am about to install a TrueTrac this weekend. I am keeping the same ring and pinion gear ratio. After reading this thread, I decided to use Redline 75W-140NS gear oil without any friction modifers. I will let you know how it works in my Tahoe daily driver.

    Cub Cadet 2155

I own a 2002 model 3235 Cub Cadet with almost 600 hours on the clock. If properly, and regularly serviced, most Cubs will provide many years of service. I can tell you, however, there is a big difference between the 2000 vs. 3000 series of Cub Cadets. The 3000 series units are heavier built...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

Dropped the pan and installed a drain plug on a recently acquired 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD Diesel with a 545RFE transmission. The Jeep has 160K with an unknown service history. The fluid did not smell burnt, but was dark in color. Changed both filters during the service. There was no obvious metal...

    F150 First Change

IMHO, 150K for the first differential service is crazy. The gear surfaces are wearing against each other until they mate with each other with use. During this process, metal particles from the wear in the mating process are floating around in the differential. These wear particles from the...

Repairing oil pan with stripped drain hole

If it were my vehicle, I would just replace the pan with a new gasket. It will likely be cheaper in the short and long term.

TC & Diff Fluid Change -- Why do it?

Another reason is that the general viscosity of the oil with use will thicken over time with severe duty. First it shears and thins out, but over time it thickens in viscosity. At least this is the general theory I have read. I suspect this is one of the reasons for decreased fuel economy over...

    Hydraulic fluid question?

I believe you would be fine using any ISO 32 rated hydraulic oil in your application. I use a car lift that takes ISO 32 for its pump. As long as you replace as needed, you should be good. I personally believe replacing at regular intervals in hydraulic units with any rated oil is better than...

    Bulk Oil and Jug Oil

I have to agree with stchman, bulk oil used in a dealer, or in a quick-lube would be the least of my worries. I am fortunate to have a lift in my pole barn. I let my friends use it to service their vehicles. Just today, my buddy with a late model F-150 came over for an oil change. We found that...

    Went to Iffy Lube Today

IMHO, differential and transfer cases usually require specific grades of lube. Like 01rangerxl said, they put in whatever they had on hand. If your diff and transfer case takes 80W-90, then they did not harm anything by adding it. If you need something like 75W-140, then you did not do yourself...

    Diff fluid change?

If you are just going to use the drain plug, a short drive will help in heating the differential oil for a complete drain. I would recommend pulling the cover and using brake clean to completely remove all residue from the differential. If your Suburban does not have an anti-swaybar close to...

    MOS2 Additive

I have started using Moly in all of my gas powered applications. I noticed an immediate reduction in lifter noise. After the initial OCI, I only add about half of the initial dose. IMHO, it does what it says in reducing friction. Amazon has good pricing at the following link...
