I have a good idea how many engineering hours have been spent on SW and HW development using RedHat. A lot of it came from jumping off of Solaris. Red Hat is pretty much the only enterprise Linux you'll see in large Federal installations. Plus, IBM owns it. They'd never push back against that.

In the US it only really matters if Red Hat implements it or not. As far as I can tell they will implement it. So, nothing to talk about.
