2017 Malibu loses communication with fob

Update: replacing the receiver module resolved the problem. No programming was required, and it behaves differently when you push the fob buttons. Very quick to respond and the range is much further. Thanks again for the help.

    Battery Charger Testing Results

I’ve been using mine for a few years now and it does not behave the same way for the types you mentioned. For AGM the charger goes up to 14.7-14.9 then falls back down to around 12.9 which is close to fully charged for AGM battery. It never goes into the 13 range the time that I’ve had it...

2017 Malibu loses communication with fob

I found a post in a Malibu forum where somebody replaced the receiver and it did not require programming. In prior generations, the receiver was an expensive item. The same part for this 2017 is only $35 so I suspect the actual programming module is somewhere else upstream. So for $35 I may as...

2017 Malibu loses communication with fob

Yeah pretty sure that was it. Because both fobs are doing it I’m pretty sure it’s the receiver. TSB.

2017 Malibu loses communication with fob

This is the TSB. It does not mention programming why I wasn’t sure if this was just a “dumb” receiver box. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10116548-9999.pdf

2017 Malibu loses communication with fob

When this first happened I only had one fob. Replaced the battery and then it happened again after a month. Purchased a second fob and had it programmed thinking there might be a problem with the original fob. A month after that they both stopped working at the same time. So I’m pretty confident...

2017 Malibu loses communication with fob

2017 Malibu with only 20K. Randomly loses communication with the fob, locking you out or preventing engine from turning on (or off). The back up fob does the same thing at the same time. I found a TSB that matches the problems and it says to replace the “remote control door lock receiver”...

Is this why the rabbits disappeared?

I’ve been having problems with rabbits destroying my lawn and bushes. So far, I’ve tried castor oil. Works for a while. Now I’m using Cayenne pepper, hot sauce with castor oil, and a motion spotlight. I was convinced it was working past couple of days. Last night, I get a ring alert side of the...
