    Castrol GTX

Just put 4qts in my Civic today and I noticed that it was a darker golden yellow color than other oils I have used but no worries, GTX has a very good reputation.

    New Honda OEM filter?

The parts guy at both local Honda dealers told me that there is no diffence in the A01 and A02 filter. Most of the auctions on ebay seem to follow the same logic assuming that the average person doesn't know any better. In the description, they even say they are interchangeable. Having seen...

    Experience at quick lube place

I had one stealership that left the oil cap off and oil spewed all over the engine and hood when I drove off. Then, when a jackwagon at Walmart did an OC, he did not make sure the old gasket from the filter came off with the filter and installed the new filter over the old gasket. Oil was...

Why are oils popular? Word of mouth or chemistry?

I have 12 quarts of Castrol GTX 5w-20 in my garage awaiting my next 3 oil changes. I didn't realize GTX was so hated? What's wrong with GTX? Price? I got 4 qts for $2.50/qt on sale at K-Mart and 8 qts for $2.79/qt on sale at AAP. Did I pay too much?

How many actually follow the OLM on new Honda?

^^Great post dtt004^^ I am so glad you asked this question as I have been wondering the exact same thing. I have owned SEVERAL Hondas over the years. I currently drive an 2010 Civic LX. I changed the FF at 5,750 miles and the OLM was at 40%. 2nd change was at 11,917 miles and once again, the...

    Honda OEM Oil Filters

I'm no expert but here's my take: The 02A model of the current Honda filter is made by Honeywell. Honeywell makes millions of filters for all different types of vehicles. With that much revenue at stake, why would they intentionally produce a product that would fail under normal circumstances...

OEM vs Aftermarkets. I have questions............

New to the site and first off let me confess that I know VERY LITTLE about auto repair. I can do the very basic maintenance stuff but that is about it. With the high cost of oil changes now a days, I decided to do my own oil changes and found this site. Great site BTW. I'm a Honda guy and have...
