Did you happen to post that analysis or would you mind sharing the results? Curious the ways it was spent at the time of sample. Of course, other oils may have a wide variation of results.

New AMSOIL Signature Series formulation rolling out

@kschachn To your larger point earlier, attributing blame without verifiable proof is mere speculation and irresponsible. Correlation does not equal causation. It's basic folks! A group of people that may have happened to be using Amsoil in a problem prone outboard motor gives the oil (Amsoil...

New AMSOIL Signature Series formulation rolling out

Indeed. Word choice matters. It's a good insight into where someone is coming from. For fun, I asked Google AI this question "did amsoil 2t oil cause Yamaha VZ300 outboard failure seizure" and found this thread...

New AMSOIL Signature Series formulation rolling out

You have to see things from the other side. If I said the same story to you and the boards here regarding let's say Mobil1 and no one else has ever heard of the story, how on Earth do I expect people to believe me? And, what is more, what does that have to do with Mobil1 today? It's just...

New AMSOIL Signature Series formulation rolling out

Even if all of that is true, it was indeed over 2 decades ago and for sake of the conversation it has no legitimate point to modern day Amsoil. Not saying your story is true or not, but at this point does it even matter? Maybe there was a bad batch? How do we know it wasn't a mechanical problem...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

@ChrisD46 Nice comment on your observations. However, most of what your post observed is anecdotal at best without a UOA to back it up. Noise, color and smell; by themselves, simply isn’t enough quality data to state a recommendation conclusively. It may mean something or it may mean nothing...

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

I suppose the questions to ask would be what differences would be notable to measure in a high # of cold start cycles with insufficient heating and more fuel presence (likely)?

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

Isn’t this more akin to a taxi test with maybe more cold cycles? Idling with AC isn’t the worst for an oil. Short trips not getting up to temp would be the primary thing to look for there, but adding in some long road trips would be beneficial to the oil.

🍿 (Nothing to add, but enjoying the discussion.)

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

Is 15 minutes even going to completely heat soak the engine? Why would I want to run a 15 minute test every day? Whats the purpose? It’s inefficient and time wasting unless there are actual metrics we are chasing.

Proof that prevention is the best approach in the first place.

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

At least, not per the SDS. But, again it's likely the old one and regardless it's not exactly a recipe books anyway. No clue whether it's concrete based on an assumption if it would be "required to be" listed; if it's past a certain amount or the laws around disclosure. But, then again it...

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

I noticed it wasn't shown for that grade. But it and the following are dated as revised in February 2026. Not sure if this reflects the formulation change being it's 5 months old. The 0w-20, 0w-30, and 0w-40 shows a range of 10%-<30% here https://amsoilcontent.com/ams/msds/asm_azo_azf.pdf

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

I suppose if Amsoil were a company that was based in Europe, maybe they'd actually have the 5w-40. Also, I've got no experience using anything above 5w-30 in my personal vehicles.

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

On paper, I guess. But in practice? Does anyone actually need 5w-40 vs 0w-40 Signature Series in order to decide to buy their 40 grade, solely on the starting "w" rating?

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

The important notables to me (starting TBN isn't a concern in use, but it is notable to be fair) Better Noack in the 0w-20 and 5w-30 grades. The entire lineup appears to have better CCS scores and Flash/Fire points. Of course, this doesn't tell us that much, but some improvements are nice...

LSJr video about vis, wear, viscosity, etc

I didn't look into it. Heard something about the one's that went down there as (flat earthers) and DID believe were all in on the big conspiracy after all/paid off etc and never true "flat earthers" ;)

LSJr video about vis, wear, viscosity, etc

It’s the classic “since I don’t see the evidence it must not exist.” That’s like saying since I don’t see masses of cars dead on the road: 1) They must all last the same amount of miles and years no questions asked! Quality is equal you can’t know it! 2) So, just buy any car! 😅

Price of Amsoil going up at midnight

As an aside, I saw WM’s app has just reflected a price increase on Valvoline Restore and Protect. Up $6 for a 5 Qt jug from $29.97 to $35.97. (Something I notice Amazon already does with price fluctuations, first time I’ve personally seen it from WM though) A nearly 17% price increase...
