In-Laws and poor financial choices - rant

As long as they don't run out of money each month and need help from you I would not be too bothered. Your wife and her brother will have much better luck explaining things to them that you ever will. The bigger problem I see is trying to get your MIL to stop driving herself when it's no...

    Battery Longevity

A carbon pile load tester is the "gold standard" of battery testing. The Ancel is good. A carbon pile load tester is better. With a carbon pile load tester you can smell your battery being tested.

The stress in NY is from your taxes. Glad I moved a few states south to Delaware. In NY the batteries from Walmart should be East Penn at least. That's a plus when looking for a normal priced battery (not the $400 AGMs).

    Proton Drive

I have been using them for several years. Excellent product/service. They are Swiss based and follow Swiss privacy laws. They don't read your email like Google does and try to make money off it. I have a paid Proton account. They give me more GB of storage every year I continue as a customer.

    First iPad

Looking at a $300 11" with A16 chip. Is this a decent iPad? Or do I need to spend more $$ to get a decent iPad? Initially I will use it to remotely run a Yamaha TF1. But after that I am not sure what I will use it for.

Getting very frustrated with ethernet cable quality

I buy 1000' spools of CAT6 outdoor w/messenger from TruCable. Use to order it direct with free shipping. They upped the minimum order. But can still order TruCable products on Amazon with free shipping. I order some outdoor CAT6 from Unifi. Aren't most premade cables stranded? Or only patch...

Airplane in-flight entertainment - the new norm?

I was flying American yesterday. First flight was Anchorage to Dallas. A pretty long flight. Pretzels, two small cookies and one soda and no inflight we entertainment.

Airplane in-flight entertainment - the new norm?

Two to three times a year for vacation. Years ago I traveled a lot on business and earned a AA Gold for life status.

Airplane in-flight entertainment - the new norm?

I may actually buy my first iPad. Considering a 11" with A16 chip. Around $300 on Amazon. Initial use is to learn how to remote manage a Yamaha TF1 with an iPad.

Airplane in-flight entertainment - the new norm?

Gone are the video screens built into the seat backs. Now there is a little holder for your tablet or smart phone so you can provide your own entertainment. The meals on domestic flights disappeared years or decades ago What's next?

    Rounded belt tensioner nut. Ugh

Amsoil ATF and gear oil is even more expensive. With the cost of a new car, lubricants are cheap. SuperTech or Amsoil.

    Battery Longevity

Probably time. Probably time. But I would still fully charge with plug-in charger and then test it. You could have left a light on or have a parasitic current draw.

    Rounded belt tensioner nut. Ugh

Who told your wife. I doubt she looks over your work for rounded nuts or bolts. I have a Craftsman kit of pound-on sockets with teeth to deal with rounded nuts/bolts.

Never ever had a car with a working AC

You really should get A/C repaired as opposed to just dumping in refrigerant every year especially R12a. Not good for the environment.

Never ever had a car with a working AC

Repairing or replacing the evaporator coil on my F250 should be less expensive than some vehicles as I dropped some change down the defrost vents which can be used to offset the cost.
