Can I mix oil viscosity and brand?

I agree, but using 5w20 for one season if he keeps the oil full (by adding some assuming it burns it off) will not blow up or damage the engine like everyone here seems to think it will. Again, it's a LAWNMOWER.

Can I mix oil viscosity and brand?

Because Kawasaki engines are known to consume oil, especially the newer V-Twins, and they want to make it through warranty, not because 20 grade will blow it up on a hot day. If 5w20 couldn't stand up to high heat, Texas and Florida roads would be littered with Hondas and other vehicles with...

    3,000 Mile Oil Change

I mean I'm driving it so it basically does. To be fair, for a 167k mile vehicle it has been flawless so far. Helps that it is a pristine California Jeep that I bought from the original and only owner who was an aircraft mechanic.

    3,000 Mile Oil Change

I do in my Jeep, because that is about how many miles I put on it in a year.

Can I mix oil viscosity and brand?

All true in theory, but it is a lawn mower with splash lubrication, not a complex automobile engine. The number of mowers I see every year that have been running with almost no oil, or the original oil and are fine is insane. Is xw20 optimal? No, and not recommended, but using it until the...

Local oil change place mis hap

My sister owns a 2013 Jetta 2.5L. The shield needs to be removed for each change to access the filter/drain bolt. It is only 3 torx screws on each side, and easy to remove, but when I couldn't do the oil change for her for 2 years when she lived quite a distance away, the bolts would 1 by 1 go...

Can I mix oil viscosity and brand?

The key to my statement is keeping it full. If you feel your engine will consume the oil faster than you can check it, then yeah, you shouldn't be using a xw20.

Can I mix oil viscosity and brand?

This. You can run 0w20 in a small engine if you want. Mixing brands, viscosity, it doesn't matter as long as you keep the level at full.

One piece vs three piece oil rings for OPE.

Typically 3, but there are a lot of other factors like build quality that need to be taken into consideration.

    The Animal Shelters Are Full...

I agree. I have had several cats and dogs over the years, one dog from a puppy until he died recently at 17. I currently have a golden retriever, two cats, and 14 chickens. One of the cats I adopted about 3 months ago. The entire process was a nightmare. If I didn't see the cat in person...

    NAPA European oil

They haven't been selling a Euro specific oil though.

    NAPA European oil

It's probably just Valvoline Euro 5w40. I rarely go to WalMart for oils/filters anymore, not worth my time. Their pricing and stock is all over the map, and it doesn't just seem to be my local stores. They once had a gallon of Rotella T4 15w40 listed for $25/gallon one week, and the next...

What are you working on today?

Happy Birthday! I also enjoy a nice grilled steak on my birthday, doesn't get any better than that.

Straight 30 or 15W40 for hard use air cooled small engine?

Very interesting. I'll admit I haven't run T6 5w40 in a while due to it not being a good value anymore, but didn't notice consumption with it in the things I used it in. I mainly use Rotella T4 15w40, T5 10w30, Valvoline PB 10w30/15w40, and lately Delvac 15w40 with some Supertech 15w40...

Post your latest small engine oil change

Yep oil changed every 100-150 hours. Original hydro pumps, I did a change with Valvoline Synthetic 20w50 and Exmark hydro filter. Machine is still nice and solid, not much play in anything. The 27hp Kohler Command doesn't even smoke or use a noticeable amount of oil between changes.

Is there a reliable head unit for Trimmer Plus?

Look into the Echo PAS. It has the 2-stroke powerhead that you can swap the attachments. That is what I have and love it, nice and light, starts easy, and I have the trimmer, pole saw, edger, and brush cutter attachments. I don't like the hand held 4-strokes, they are cheaply made and...

Post your latest small engine oil change

I believe the original engine was replaced with this one around 1000 hours.

Pretty normal for the Chinese engines.

Exmark 708 cc Front Steer ZT... CP.

Yeah I'm not a fan of it, considering the same mowers came with a Kawasaki the year before this engine was introduced and the price didn't change.
