Can YOU Spot the flaw in this New Raybestos Performance Rotor?

These Raybestos front rotors just showed up on my doorstep an hour ago so I had to take a peek. My son and I plan on doing his front brakes this weekend for his '16 Honda Accord. These look good to go.

    Hagerty Insurance

I had Hagerty in the past but I've been with American Modern for 3-4 years now. No complaints although I've never had a claim on either. I do like the fact American Modern doesn't have strict rules on the use of your car.

Anyone actually have good service from a late model Nissan with CVT?

This was my nephew's Versa. That was the transmission plus the install. My brother-in-law didn't want to mess with that job.

Anyone actually have good service from a late model Nissan with CVT?

In our family , we had two CVTs (Altima & Versa) go out. The Altima was sold as is for basically nothing and the Versa ( only had 67k miles or so) was a 6k repair bill. Needless to say, there will be no more Nissans purchased in our family.

    2010 Avalon vs 2013 Corolla

My oldest bought a 2010 Avalon last year. The car is in excellent shape and I was impressed with the ride and interior of the car. So far we dropped the transmission pan and replaced the filter and fluid. That job wasn't too bad. The alternator went a couple of month's ago but that's normal on a...

    Mevotech Suspension Parts, Any Good?

The lower ball joints were MK6663 which is their Supreme line. I couldn't find the part number on the uppers but it would have to guess I used the Supreme line there as well.

2003 GMC Safari 120k miles, too late for diff service?

My first car was a '73 Monte Carlo with a 350 small block. I had it through high school and college. It was bulletproof and sold it with around 120K on it. A year or so later I found out the car was sold as a non-runner as the differential gave way. Back in the day we babied our cars with...

First hand experience of Arcan or CAT floor jacks

I've had the Arcan 2.5 ton steel/aluminum hybrid for years. I don't think they make this model anymore. It had leak once but it was just the o-ring on the fill plug. 10 cent fix. I have no complains with this jack. One thing I'm sure you've noticed, a lot of these brands look like the same...

David Koresh - Waco on Netflix

The timing is odd that there will be another documentary coming out from ITV on the same subject. A member of our Camaro club loaned out his '68 Camaro for the show. Apparently Koresh had a 1st gen Camaro. It was very interesting to get my friend's perspective on the behind the scenes making...

Grease for calpier slide pins and contact points?

I've been using this for years now. It works great on all steel brake caliper pins. Repeat, all steel slide pins. I was refreshing my sons brakes this past weekend. His car has the one pin with the rubber bushing. ( for vibration I believe.) I had to use a pair of pliers and use a lot of force...

Dads truck shuts off while driving

Reminds me of time when I was riding in my college friend's 1970's Cutlass. We were going down the freeway just fine when it just died. Turns out he had an extremely loose battery cable connection. Of course he didn't have any tools in the car, not even a screwdriver. We found a piece of wood...

    Now this is different

I wouldn't want to get rear-ended driving that thing.

Classic Cars - How Often Do You Drive It

I try to drive my '69 Camaro every weekend unless it is raining or if I'm out of town. I also attend local car shows and club events. I'm averaging 4-5K miles a year. It is decades away but someday I'll have to hand the keys over to my kids because I can't drive anymore. We will all get there...

    Home air conditioning maintenance

If you have a multimeter that reads MF, be patient. I tested my new capacitor and the number that came up was way off. I discovered you must keep the leads connected for at least 10 seconds to get a good reading. This delay may be unique to my Extech 330 multimeter.

Which brake pad and rotors are best for a Chevy Equinox

Mike, My wife has Akebono's on her BMW. My Cadillac currently has Power Stop pads and the Trailblazer has Element 3's. I can't compare the three as they are different cars, weight, wheelbase, suspension, etc. Not a fair comparison. I will say after 224K miles; I've towed boats, Uhauls, etc...

Which brake pad and rotors are best for a Chevy Equinox

I've used all three that you mentioned on various vehicles I have at some point. You can't go wrong with any of those choices. I have been using Raybestos Element 3 rotors and Element 3 pads on my heavy Trailblazer for some time. I have nothing but good things to say about this combination. This...

    Loved the Monte Carlo.

My first car was a '73 Monte Carlo. 350 with a 4-barrel carb. It got me through high school and all of college. Great car. I had very few problems with it. I'll never forget the swivel bucket driver seat. The only reason I sold it was because I took a job that included a company car.

Why do we disconnect the negative terminal?

A little off topic, but I grew up in a small town of 3K. Saturday nights in high school we took turns with my friends driving around town late into the night. We usually parked the "extra" cars in the downtown area in front of the bank. One late night after our ride, I go to start up my '73...

    Do you remember when...

Before I married my wife she had an Eclipse. Great, fun to drive manual car until it had engine issues. It was the timing belt. Thank goodness it was under warranty as we had no money at that age. The only annoying thing about the car is it didn't have cruise control which would have been much...
