Most are 12-15 mile round trips with once a week 100 mile round trips. These trips are mostly highway, I'd say 80/20. I feel much better hearing from you all and plan on moving forward using this oil with confidence. I may run a Wix filter next time.
Hello all, I purchased this car new in January of this year. I changed the factory fill at 2900 miles and just did another change at 8800 miles. I have been using Pennzoil Platinum Pure Plus 5w20 and a Mopar MO-349 filter. The oil was really black when I changed it the last time with 5900 miles...
Same exact thing happened to me on a 5qt jug of Mobil 1 from Walmart. Man I was hot when I noticed it. They let me exchange it. Ever since then,I check them out good.
I have a 2008 Silverado 1500 extended cab. 75W90 is the recommended rear diff oil.
I dont pull a trailer alot but it does get very hot here in Louisiana. Would 75W140 give better protection/longer bearing/gear life?
Or should I just refill with 75w90?
Thanks!
It has a new aluminum radiator, clutch fan and shroud.
Mobil one 15w50 seemed to be the popular vote here. I have not assembled the short block yet. I have the rotating assembly here and block at the machine shop. Scat crank and rods with SRP 18cc domes. I will most definatly check clearances...
Thanks for the feedback! I dont want to break it in on synthetic for ring seating purposes.
I think I will break it in on Delo 15w40 and Mobil 15-50 thereafter.
Thank you
Putting together a 4.310 bore 4.25 stroke BBC for the street and an occasional 1/4 mile run at the track. I am running a retro fit hydraulic roller instead of a flat tappet camshaft so a high zinc content should not be needed. Max RPM will be 5800-6000.
Any thoughts on weight? straight 30wt...
Allright, sooo many 75W90 synthetic gear oils out there. Royal purple,Mobile one,Amsoil,Red line,Valvoline,Lucas,etc...the list goes on.
Be allright with any of these? Recommendations?
GM corperate 8.6" with the G80 option.
2003 Ford F150 with the 9.75" rear differential. The tag says use FEHP oil only, XY 75w90-QFEHP. What kind of gear oil is this? Would some Lucas or Valvoline 75w90 synthetic do the trick?
Thanks for your help
I just drained the Mobile 1 in my 5.3 and put in some PU. No difference at all.
I think your senses have sharpened due to changing to a new unproven oil.
