thermostat gasket question (pics) which side?

Felpro thermostat gascket for a 3 cylinder geo metro. There is a bead of sealant on one side, but not the other. So which side faces the engine, and which side faces the radiator, or doesn't it matter. Also, would you use any other dressing or sealant on this gasket?

Buick Lucerene front motor mount leaking oil?

Like many on the forum, I can't stand drips on the driveway. I noticed a couple of spotts under my 06 buick lucerne the other day and my first reaction was to blame it on the UPS delivery truck, cause my cars don't drip oil. Well I found a few more drops so I got jack out and got under the car...

Had my first bad experience with a China made part

I have had good luck with China made rotors for years. So when one of the rear wheel bearings/hubs on my son's mitsubishi made sebring went out, I decided to use the cheap China made ones on E-bay. I paid about $90 for two rear hubs, made in China. They appeared to be well built when I installed...

do you clay before machine polish ?

I am looking into purchasing a machine polisher. I have always used the hand zaino system in the past. Questions: 1. Do you guys still use a calybar before you bring out the polisher? 2. Is the PC still the best unit for a 1st time user? I only plan on doing my 6 cars, not the entire...

I recently obtained an 06 buick lucerne 60,000 miles with oem 17x7 chrome wheels with 235/55-17 tires. actron 9180 or 9185 scanner?

I am looking at purchasing a scanner for my personal use. I have been told that the actron lineup is easy to use and an overall great value. I am thinking of either the 9180 or 9185. The 9185 is about $100 more and the only thing that it can do over the 9180 is the real time "graphing". Is this...

can krytox grease be used as a speedo cable lube?

I have a geo metro that has speedometer that freaks out (needle bounces and is loud) when the temps get below freezing. I have found that I can lubricate the speedo cable once a year in the fall with that black graphite liquid speedo lube stuff. That helps, but when the temps get really cold...

fuel additives with direct injection engines?

I just pruchased a 2009 Saturn Outlook with the 3.6L VVT and new to 2009 something called direct fuel injection. I wasn't going to buy a new car for a couple of years but the 5,000 GM card points that I was able to use, sealed the deal for me. I have used FP (60/3000/+) in every tankful in...

pontiac vibe ($11,500) or saturn astra ($10,500)

Got a letter from my GM card and they upped the limits that you can use on Saturns and Pontiacs. I can now take and additional $5,000 of the dealers best deal by using my GM card points. So I am looking at a new 09 Ponitac Vibe base with automatic, after all the rebates and GM points, my cost...
