Should a transfer case have a magnetic drain plug?

I don't remember my XJ transfer case having a magnetic plug either. For sure my GX460 didn't as well. 🤷🏻‍♂️

First experience with a Waymo self driving taxi

Usually it's more? how does that make any sense. If we are replacing people with technology it supposed to make our lives easier/better. If it's going to cost more than a typical taxi after the novelty wears off why??

Is Mobil 1 0w-40 too thin?

It's pretty common these days to install a flex fuel sensor so you don't need to carry out a science experiment at the pump anymore. It reads the E% and ECU accounts for it

Are German cars safer than Japanese or American cars?

Id look at what brands did good when the minor overlap test was first introduced. Toyota did awful, Subaru and Infiniti did good. Merc did good, BMW ok, Audi not so good. Volvo did good

Our 261K mile old Honda Element had its first serious failure

The job is done now but don't they sell JDM low milage engines for ~1k, that + install at an indy would likely have been half the price.

    Recommend 1/4" torque wrench

Generally a good rule of thumb is you don't use the bottom of top 20% of a torque wrench, usualy they are ok at full scale but some don't even use the upper 10% So that's 39-135in-lb. If you wanted to torque something that was 10-20 inch-lb I wouldn't use that torque wrench depending on the...

    Recommend 1/4" torque wrench

I avoid digital, always dead when you need em! Basic clickers of any decent brand will work, as long as they are functional and are reasonably accurate that's all ya really need.

    Debit Card hacked

If I had to guess good chance it was skimmed when she used it someplace. My wife has a business account she never uses her debit card with and somehow it's been compromised twice. I have a feeling her cards got compromised in the mail with the chip being read along the way. In short never...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

When I had my 17 SS1LE Redline D4 also performed much better at the track too when things got hot. All around major improvements over stock! Shift quality did degrade overtime, the fluid runs very cool unless you are at the track so was my running theory, but a drain and fill fixs that up...

Long Term Fuel Trim at 20% 04 Mazda 3 2.3L

While at idle, Plot Short term fuel trim on your scanner let it stabilize. Now take brake cleaner/carb cleaner/start fluid which ever you have and spray around your intake start to finish past your MAF. If you see any big changes then you found a leak

Coil compressor for McPherson type strut

This is always been the tool I've rented from auto parts stores on my cars, never an issue. I know for my gx460 the coils are thicker and may run into issues but a RAV4 should be no issues. A typical 1/2-13 grade 8 fastener can easily handle 12k lbs, so with two fasteners this tool is...
