I get it, but I would think it would be difficult to clog one unless there is some catastrophic failure, and by then it's already too late.

Do these things actually *need* a bypass? In what condition would your transmission cooler line, or p/s return cause a filter to go into bypass? Unless there was a catastrophic failure, I can't see either of these fluids loading up a filter enough to cause it to go into bypass.

I've been using the Citgo TT fuel near my house for a couple of years without any issue. It is hard to answer something like "how does it compare" to another gas station. Unless there is something really wrong with the fuel, it would be very difficult to find any difference.

I just got two 55gallon drums, and they increased $55/drum or $1/gallon.

Hopefully they will improve the quality.
