    oil filter question

Thanks, Not much solid advice about whats best, mostly just confusing. But one thing came thru loud and clear right at the beginning is that he pretty much said (at least for the way i interpreted it) that the wix filters that come in good/better/best versions is mostly BS and to go for the...

    Mobil 1 10/40 racing oil vs Mobil 1 20/50 V twin ?

Well, i did the 4T racing 10w40 and took it for about a 30 mile ride ending in 97 degrees, so i assume it was a degree or 3 cooler when i started. I'll have to wait to see how my MPG is but it ran nice and quiet and throttle felt a tad more responsive and quicker when overtaking. So far so good...

    oil filter question

Napa carries wix filters that are made for napa that are supposedly the same as the wix branded of any given number. However, they have 2 versions with the SAME number except for the first number which they say denotes the oil change interval. The filter i use comes in those 3 versions starting...

    Mobil 1 10/40 racing oil vs Mobil 1 20/50 V twin ?

LOL. I shoulda known better then to ask an oil question ! Well, gonna try 10w40 this time. My riding temps are 99% between 75 and 90 degrees so i guess it shouldn't matter and i may as well see how the bike runs on it and the MPG. Might be worth it. If not, back to V twin next time. Plus the 10w...

    Mobil 1 10/40 racing oil vs Mobil 1 20/50 V twin ?

Well then i would think 10w40 would be more then fine for mine, especially considering the yamaha is a high strung sport engine that probably has a much higher CR and redlines twice as high as mine. And i NEVER ride at 110 degress. Maybe 105 at times for a few blocks to go to the store but thats...

    Mobil 1 10/40 racing oil vs Mobil 1 20/50 V twin ?

All it says is triumph engines are designed to use 10w40 or 15w50 semi or fully synthetic motorcycle engine oil. (yes, i know v twin is 20 not 15, no matter) Other then that it just mentions the specifications like JASO etc, the typical ones for a wet clutch motorcycle engine. Thats it. No...

Manual recommends either but doesn't elaborate as to which to chose or why.

    Mobil 1 10/40 racing oil vs Mobil 1 20/50 V twin ?

I hear conflicting info regarding whether in my case 10/40 would be fine or whether i should stay with the V twin i am using. Every case is of course different so, Triumph 1700 thunderbird cruiser, water cooled parallel twin with 6500 redline, so cal area with summer temps up to 110 or more...

    what are some TRUE synthetics?

Looks like i may have to try Motul 7100. They say "100% synthetic" and it's not expensive so i think i'll give it a go. Better viscosity index number then MI or castrol too. .

    what are some TRUE synthetics?

My bike has a issue that is common to the model which seems to improve with certain oils and get worse with others. I want to try true synthetic and see if that helps more then others and someone i talked to who is quite knowledgeable seemed to think it might given all the facts. This is not...

    what are some TRUE synthetics?

Triumph 1700 P twin cruiser, water cooled. My understanding is that true 100% synthetic oils are zero mineral oil as opposed to mineral oil with a additive package.

    what are some TRUE synthetics?

Seems hard to find rue 100% true synthetic bike oils, especially when like me you aren't an oil expert by any stretch and therefore reading data sheets is greek to me. So what are some true all synthetic oils? Especially those at the lower end of the cost spectrum being a retired person living...

    Silkolene Pro 4 XP 10W60 ?

Oh, i forgot....triumph 1700 parallel twin water cooled cruiser. These are known for piston slap. it's a common issue with them and really just annoying rather then detrimental, but VERY annoying one never the less. . My reasoning in looking for a new oil is to try and quiet it. It's very...

    Silkolene Pro 4 XP 10W60 ?

Well, then 60w aside, what about the 15w50 version?? And how about compared with what i normally use, M1 V-twin 20w50?

    Silkolene Pro 4 XP 10W60 ?

Anyone have an opinion on this? Preferably one based in solid experience rather then just using it and thinking it's great w/o reason. Because lets face it, a lot of people do that. I was using M1 V-twin before but it's a model that inherently has some piston slap and i thought this might help...

    Interstate batteries?

It's always a crap shoot unless you know exactly what u r getting. So what the heck. It;s 30 month and the last POS i bought was $125/1.5 years and lasted just barely over that. Free replacement at 30 with a $97 price tag is a lot better than that, so i bought it. thanks again for the replies.
