    Factory 24 Ram 3500 Cummins 5083285AA / MO-285 Cut Open

Well, here it is. I'm a little surprised at the lack of machining metal to be honest. We bought my wife a 2023 Honda Pilot last year, and I cut the factory filter on that one and there was a lot of little silver flakes. Not much here. I cut it open with a sawzall, and I think those large...

    Factory 24 Ram 3500 Cummins 5083285AA / MO-285 Cut Open

Sure. I'll do it now. Do I need to squeeze it out in a vise, or is it fine as is?

    Factory 24 Ram 3500 Cummins 5083285AA / MO-285 Cut Open

Did my first oil change on a 2024 Ram 6.7 Cummins. Nothing super special, but it was my first time cutting open a diesel filter. These things are WAY more robust than the Motorcraft FL-500S type filter I'd been using on my old truck. Factory Oil Fill 1,608 Miles 48 Hours 2 Regens

2024 6.7 Cummins - Looking for an oil recommended

Dang, that's quite the endorsement. I said I was gonna stay away from boutique oils (and I think that still holds true), but I think I'm going to run AMSOIL 10w30 synthetic diesel oil. It's about the same price per gallon as most of the other contenders, and people may complain about AMSOIL...

2024 6.7 Cummins - Looking for an oil recommended

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I just need to decide if go 10w30 or 5w40. I've seen a few reports that 10w30 just runs better in these motors, but it seems like the overwhelming majority of people (and dealers) are running 5w40. Lots to decide.

2024 6.7 Cummins - Looking for an oil recommended

Hey Guys, New to maintaining a modern diesel, and not the oil expert many on this forum are. I have a new 2024 Cummins 6.7 with 600 miles on it. Although I don't need to change the oil yet, I want to get my stockpile built up. I was planning to run Rotella T6 5w40 in this truck, but I've...

    .308 Win. @ 3K Yards

That's crazy. I regularly shoot 1,000 yard F-Class in F-T/R (a division that's caliber limited to .308s) with rifles that are custom throated to run the 200.20x Hybrid, and our loads are already ~3-5gr over book max with Varget/N150. Anything beyond ~1,300 gets very, very sporty in my...

Is it just me? 94 degrees, 36% humidity. Really don't need the AC...

Humidity makes all difference. I would much prefer 100 with 15% humidity than I would 70 with 95% humidity. Same can be said for when it's cold...basically it makes you feel colder when it's cold, and hotter when it's "warm". I do a lot of recreational activity just south of Houston, and my...

    Oil for 5.0L Coyote 5w-30 vs. 5w-20

You're on a newer generation Coyote than me, but in my 2014 I ran 5w-20 for ~105,000 miles. No oil consumption issues, but I have always encountered a 'tick' from the motor (I purchased it with 8 miles on the odometer). Some 5w-20 oil/filter seem 'quieter' than others, but they all do it to some...

Unbelievable 18 Hour Detail On Filthy Kia Minivan

I've seen some nasty vehicles in my time; I know they exist. I've seen them in person, and I see them in pictures. That said, the rate at which this guy (and other YouTubers) pull in cars like this really isn't believable (to me at least). If it were one every 6-12 months that's one thing, but...

Stupid PC question of the day!

Just re-read your post. Installing windows is very, very easy nowadays. Easier than changing oil in your car levels of ease. I just completed a new build last week and literally from POST to hitting the windows desktop/fully installed it takes ~7-8 minutes. Suggestions for an easy "fresh...

Stupid PC question of the day!

You can usually clone the drive using various software suites; often times the SSD vendors will include them with purchase. How exactly you do it will depend on the software. That said, I would strongly recommend just backing up all your existing data, creating new install media (google windows...

    Cordless impact wrench

DeWalt is releasing a new/updated mid-torque that makes identical numbers to their current high torque model. I think a few have already hit stores. I have both 20v and M18 impacts. The DeWalts have always had better ergonomics than the Milwaukees (I hate the location of their direction...

Who uses Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic?

I've used Pennzoil Ultra Plat 5w-20 w/ FL-500s filter in my 5.0 Coyote powered F150 almost exclusively for ~100,000 miles at this point. Granted I keep a short OCI, but at certain points I have tried other brands (Motorcraft, Valvoline, and Castrol). The coyote motors are known to "tick" at...

Looking for advice on which self propelled mower to purchase

I retired a 15 year old Troy Built FWD w/ 190cc Briggs, and went with an HRN216 last year and couldn't be happier with it. Money wasn't really a factor in the decision, but I really liked the weight/maneuverability versus the 217 model (my dad had just purchased the fancy hydrostatic version)...
