    2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5L / M1 EP 0w20 / 20,799 mile OCI

I live on a fairly busy gravel road, so there is that too.

    2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5L / M1 EP 0w20 / 20,799 mile OCI

This is my first run with M1 EP 0w20. All the other runs were with Costco 0w20. I think this test looks pretty good, and I plan on running another 20,000 mile oci. I put miles on very quickly.

    2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5L / M1 EP 0w20 / 20,799 mile OCI

I probably posted it with my older uoa posts, but I’m guessing the good filter was the Fram Ultra Synthetic and the bad filter was a Wix. I can’t remember off the top of my head if I used anything else on this car.

and others that commented on the silicon. I used a fram air filter this last run. I currently have the Subaru filter in there.

Oil filter was a Fram Ultra Synthetic.

2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5, 11,065 OCI, Kirkland 0w20, Wix Filter

So 6,000 mile oil changes didn’t prevent that? Have you used different oils? I thought about trying the Idemitsu 0w20, but I wonder if it would have usage issues. It appears thinner than Kirkland from what I gather.

2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5, 11,065 OCI, Kirkland 0w20, Wix Filter

How many total miles are we talking on these engines that see these problems? I will probably have 300,000 before most have 100,000.

2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5, 11,065 OCI, Kirkland 0w20, Wix Filter

I don’t know where I read or saw it, but I thought I heard that Subaru changed from a 7,500 oci to a 6,000 oci because cars were using oil, and owners were driving cars that were too low on oil. Check your oil. I drive an hour one way to work on interstates. My car gets up to temperature and...

2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5, 11,065 OCI, Kirkland 0w20, Wix Filter

I don’t understand all the short oci recommendations. We are on BITOG, correct? This is an excellent uoa. Why would I stick to 6,000 or 7,500 miles? The oil was the same thickness on a 6,500 oci as it is on longer runs. None of the wear metals are increasing relative to miles. I’m at almost...

2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5, 11,065 OCI, Kirkland 0w20, Wix Filter

I’ve used Kirkland every change except that one using Castrol Edge. It was actually Edge Extended Performance. Yes, it’s blended by Warren Distribution.

I didn't get a uoa after using the Edge. If you look, I went went 20,000 miles after the uoa before this one. While using Edge my oil level dropped faster. I just didn't like it as well. I can't remember exactly why. The Kirkland lasts 10,000 without needing topped off.

I expected the high fuel. It was cold, and the car was cold and sitting before I moved it to change the oil. Before this change I used Castrol Edge for one change.

This fill was with all SP. The first uoa was a half and half of SN/SP.

20 Legacy 2.5 6,000 OCI Kirkland 0w20 RP filter particle count

I’m currently running the same oil and a Wix 57055 filter. I’m going to do another uoa with particle count to compare the filters.

Particle Count of Royal Purple Filter after 6,000 Miles

This is the particle count of the filter in my signature. It's off of a 2020 Subaru Legacy 2.5L. The full UOA is posted in the UOA section.

Who had great success reaching high mileages with recommended (extended) service intervals?

I disagree 100 percent. For someone who drives their vehicle, 10,000 is usually very easy to obtain, even longer in many cases. I had a state police 2009 Crown Vic that I bought from the state police with 197,000 miles on it. I received the maintenance records with the car, and I put almost an...

Bought the new 20,000 mile Supertech 0w20

The filters I cut open looked identical except for the antidrain back valve and the color of the media. It was a slightly different tint. Both medias looked like they were the same thickness. I considered using these filters, but after cutting them open, I probably won’t.
