Driving a "domestic" vehicle I just do the clear flood method and then let off the pedal from the floor while it's still cranking after 5 or so seconds. The ECU in my van keeps it cranking until it starts or until the time out period like 20 seconds later. So 5 seconds or so I think is enough, I...
I'm not saying hot is better, I too change the filter every second change. Everytime I look at the Filter cartridge in my PentaStar it looks clean and prestine. I'm using the Fram Ultra though and not a standard filter and it's changed well before what Fram puts on the box. Never been an issue...
This and the one I posted above kind of made me thing of an Air Conditioning Compressor I had seen an autopsy of. But I hadn't seen it used in a combustion engine setup.
I've always done it that way, and also let it drain for a good long time while I do other stuff on the car like check tire pressure, top up washer fluid, have my cup of coffee, chat with the neighbour, finish the overall general check etc.
I thought this video was kind of interesting visual information:
It shows how quickly a dry oil filter, will fill up with oil upon cranking RPM
(Much slower than it would be with running RPM)
How many times it might take filling an engine with fresh engine oil to displace all old oil left in...
I actually just came across this video and while it's directed more toward folks like me that have Spinal Cord Injury and severe chronic back pain, they do mention other folks with neuropathic pain. It really gave me more information on the subject and I thought I'd share it here for anyone else...
Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. Good to hear the battery change isn't that involved. I think it's amazing we have all this technology today.
I did find this video that explains what it would be.
Thank you. Yeah nerve pain is a terrible thing. Especially from Spinal Cord damage. Whole new respect for those dealing with chronic pain. It's one of those things you just have to experience to understand, and once you do, it's something that you wish you never got to experience.
I gotta or this would eat me alive. There is a high rate of depression and the serious life altering effects (keeping it family friendly here) that it can lead to. They actually find you a therapist before discharge so that there is a support system in place because it's such a problem.
I just...
Unfortunately, no. It's pretty well set in stone at this point. There can be minor changes over time but it's marginal at best and also quite rare.
I'm ok with where I ended up because I can do most things just in different ways.
In my Physio/Rehab they said it was the first time they heard that this was a goal for someone to work towards. Most asked about how to get back in their wheelchairs if they fell, but no one wanted to intentionally get down on the ground / floor and then get back into their chair on purpose and...
Yeah the reason I went XL 5W30 was the 3.3 HTHS. As the Signature is lower in the 5w30 / 0w30 both of which I tried and my PentaStar seems to favour the better HTHS so that is why I like the fact that European 0w30 is 3.5 HTHS which is even better than the 5w30 XL but with a better cold flow rating.
It has been a long year of recovery and while I was reading here I wasn't posting much because of time doing other things like attending medical appointments, rehab/physio etc. It's a full time job just keeping up on all this stuff.
