    VW G-055-025-1L-DSP ATF UOA

After just 27K miles the viscosity of the VAG fluid has dropped below spec for a Type IV ATF. I have already done a drain and fill with Amsoil. Shifts great!

    VW G-055-025-1L-DSP ATF VOA

Just for giggles, I did a drain/fill with Amsoil ATF this morning, and on a 200 mile trip it shifted the same. Also, sent in a sample of what I drained out to Blackstone.

    VW G-055-025-1L-DSP ATF VOA

This is the current fluid in the 8 speed Aisin transmissions, (09P) for many VW passenger cars. The dealer price is about $23 per quart so getting alternate synthetic fluids can save when doing several drains/fills. The 80K transmission service recommendation for the Tiguan is not a good...

    VW G-055-025-1L-DSP ATF VOA

This looks like a Type IV fluid. I am looking to substitute it with Redline D4 or Amsoil ATF.

VW 8 speed transmission fluid change

Drain and fill is not difficult, but definitely involved on these VW transmissions. You need the right tools which requires more investment than just wrenches. 1. Must have an oil pump and preferably one you can pressurize. This can be utilized for other tasks such as differentials and the...

HPL cleaning 2013 Hyundai Elantra - cut filter element

Currently, I am using the HPL EC in a 2015 Honda CRV that started using oil at a rate of 1qt/3K miles. I know at 88K miles on the engine that may not be much to some, but I think it is due to gummed up rings and I want to give cleaning a try. These engines are prone to fuel dilution as I...

Did you clean the pump screen?

HPL cleaning 2013 Hyundai Elantra - cut filter element

I see people use it for 2K miles before draining it.

    Divorced Dad's, I need advice.

My Dad married 4 times in his life, and my Mom twice. It always ended up to be total crap for me, and I could not wait to grow up to be in charge of my own life. I moved thousands of miles to get away from that whole mess, and have done everything in my power not to repeat it for my children...

    New 1040 form..What a JOKE!

Using tax software for 15 years and never looked back. We all have different situations. If you have a small business and/or various investments doing it on paper is a waste of money. The software and filing is about $50 and makes it a couple of hours of work instead of days. One can make a lot...

    Ravenol SSL 0w-40

Ravenol is good stuff. I started using VMO and RUP in my VW turbo, and even in my motorbike. Blauparts has 15% or 20% sales frequently plus free shipping over $100.

This Plant Has a Secret That Could Replace Synthetic Oil

I can see that a major roadblock to adoption will be BITOG users calling consumers of the flower derived oil "Penzeys".

Seeking VOA for Valvoline 5w40 MST

This is an excellent oil, and completely under appreciated due the much onanizing over VOAs. People are not seeing their favorite additives and pass on it. It is all I am using in my MK7 Golf and it loves it. Practically no oil consumption on 5K OCIs.

    VW GTI 1.8T Oil

Ditto to Jordan's observation. MKVII engines were designed to run on LOW AHS oils. However, US fuel is still so high in sulfur and phosphor compounds that VAG does not recommend low ash oils, for their standard 10K OC interval. I use Valvoline MST 5w-40 mostly in my Golf and have ordered some...

Looking for decent noack/lower saps for VW TSI

Valvoline 5w40 MST. I look for it when on sale for $6/qt at Napa, but AZ stocks it as well. It is mid-SAPS and the NOACK must be decent as I only need to add 1/3 of a quart per 5K miles in my TSI.

Constant speeds and the break in period

I have yet to have an issue with engine break in. However, I had an Isuzu engine that blew its piston rings, a Subaru engine that blew head gaskets and a Honda engine that had major fuel dilution issues. None of that was break in related. I just don't go bunkers on it and that works for me...
