I would suggest focusing on keeping the oil topped up as you have an oil burning situation. I like the LM engine flush and a few folks in the thread have had good experience with the BG piston soak product. So you could try that (you might need to have a mechanic secure the BG product???)...

Kinda concerned that this thread is a high level CIA interrogation designed to get folks to admit to using regular sockets with an impact wrench. I will admit to having done that a few times. Let’s see what happens to me next.

I like it personally, but the process is probably duplicative and at the same time oddly specific. I would prefer using the LM flush, driving 2500 miles and repeating with the cheap oil rinse both times, and new filters x4. I suspect you have a worn engine.

Strictly speaking, this is true, but if you are looking for likely occurrences, generally speaking, if you put a working small engine away a month ago, it still has spark today.

Could be wrong here, but the OP said the engine gave a couple of putts. That’s a little bit opaque, but I would take it to mean that it fired off once or twice, which probably means spark, timing or compression are okay. Beyond that, the rule with small engines is that it is always the carb...

There are no meaningful ill effects of using starting fluid. If you get some noise, you know you probably have a carb issue. Not sure what equipment you have, but most carbs can be easily rebuilt with kits that usually cost less than $10

I am not an engineer, but agree that they generally do what they are told by those making business decisions. My thing is extracting utility out of these engines over long stretches. I have gone many miles on thin oil. I bet that no engineer at Acura is sweating their oil rec.

Following this, you are suggesting that Acura had it right on the old J series when they recommended and embossed on the oil cap 0 w 20, but when it came to the 3.0, and they did the exact same, they got it all wrong?
