Allis Chalmers test positive for antifreeze in oil

I got this oil analysis back for my Allis Chalmers 301. A little background on the engine. It is a 2900 series engine, which is 301 cu in wet sleeve diesel. It is a later model with copper injector cups instead of copper washers in the head. I rebuilt it at 5900 hrs, which was a little over 400...

Rotella 15w40 in an Allis 7000 at 200 hours

This is the latest oil sample of 15w40 (ignore the sheet, as they still have 10w30 from the last sample of the 10w30 breakin oil). This tractor gets started almost every day in the winter to run for about 45 minutes, so as you can imagine, those are some hard hours on this oil. This is also the...

    Traveller Renew UTF

Does anyone know anything about this new fluid? It seems that Traveller fluids use a thinner weight base that is more comparable to low viscosity oils. I am looking for a standard weight hydraulic/transmission oil for my Allis Chalmers 7000 (has a powershift transmission in the sump). Would I be...

    Mobil 1 0w40 in 5.4 F150?

I was wondering what your thoughts are on mobil 1 0w40 in a 2003 ford F150 (2 valve head) with over 150,000 miles on it. We have used M1 5w30 or 5w20 EP for most of its life, but it burns it off to the tune of about 3 quarts every 10,000 miles (it's a quart low by the time we're ready to change...

    John Deere Break-in 10w30 after 30 hours

Here is my UOA of my Allis Chalmers 7000 just rebuilt. This was the first fill (JD 10w30 break-in oil). Hurst

Pictures of my Bypass setup on tractor

Here are some pictures of the bypass set up on my Allis Chalmers 7000 tractor with a 301 turbo diesel. It has increased the sump capaicity by around 1-1.5 quarts. It is a 1 micron bleached cotton wound filter (10 inch cartridge with 304 SS core). The tubing feeding the filter is 1/8 inch (1/4...

    Filter material

Would polypropylene wound filters collect soot very well? Or polypropylene melt blown filters? Or do I need to stick with cotton. Also, does anyone know if a 9 3/4" filter cartridge housing will accept a 10" filter? And lastly, would I need a steel core or can I get by with a polypropylene core...

What size orifice would you get?

I just won this filter housing on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200375253142 And am going to make a bypass filter out of it for my Allis Chalmers 7000 4.9 L turbo diesel. I was wondering what would be a good size orifice to use for this engine. The oil pump is rated...

Bypass for tractor? fuel filter as bypass filter?

I am overhauling the engine on my Allis Chalmers 7000 (301 cu. in. turbo diesel), and was wondering if this tractor would be a good candidate for a bypass filter. It gets around 200 hours a year on it, maybe a hair more. The standard OCI per the 1979 manual is 100 hours. This engine runs pretty...

Older SL Valvoline Conventional 20w50 ZDDP

I found an Advance Autoparts that had a huge stockpile of SL Valvoline 20w50 (copyright on the bottle was 2001, it's the older red, white, and blue design bottle). I have a 71 MGB that I am planning on running this oil in. Will it have enough ZDDP for this engine? Does anyone know what level...
