Tire time for the Sable, opinons please

I have the H-rated Cooper CS5 Ultras on the '94 Volvo in my sig. I have to say that I have been impressed with both the wet and dry performance of these tires. My g/f has the Altimax RT43s on her Subaru Impreza, and these are very good, too. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

    2012 Altima SL tire selection

I have the H-rated Cooper CS5 Ultras in 205/60-15 on the '94 Volvo in my sig. I have to say that I have been impressed with both the wet and dry performance of these tires, and recommend them without hesitation.

    Floor Creeper

I have that Craftsman creeper too. I find myself having to tighten the casters fairly often (4 mm allen wrench). But it has held up fairly well, and I'm not a small guy (6'4, 250).

    Your First Oil

Castrol 20W-50, which was in cardboard cans with metal ends as I recall, which my buddy and I used in the barely running '59 TR3 we bought together in high school. Later used the same stuff in a '66 VW.

    Subaru Oil Filters

Had a '99 Forester and an '07 Impreza for awhile. I was buying six-packs of genuine Subaru 15208AA12A filters on Amazon for $25, which included new crush washers.

    Minimizing amount of tools owned?

Unfortunately, my experience has been that about a week after you donate or give something away, that's when you will need it and go looking for it! It's better to have the tool and not need it than to need it and not have it, IMHO.

    Three envelopes

After hearing that the Bucs fired their coach today (again!), I was reminded of this story: A fellow had just been hired as the new CEO of a large corporation. The current CEO was stepping down and met with the new hire privately in his office, where he handed him three numbered envelopes...

In A Galaxy Far, Far Away..........

I think I'd be wearing some safety glasses if I was working in the lower bay at one of those places.

Nasty oil leak at oil pan and timing cover

I've had good luck with Permatex Ultimate Grey.

2014 Acura ILX.. Alum too high

At least some of the aluminum could be from the same source as the silicon. Most of the rock-forming minerals which weather down to sand, silt and dirt-sized grains and find their way into your intake system contain both Si and Al.

    Oil Filter for '02 Camry?

HTSS_TR: That's what I wanted to hear. I've got a stash of those for the Tacoma, won't need to go to the parts store. Thanks!

    Oil Filter for '02 Camry?

Need to do an oil change on my friend's '02 Camry 2.4L this weekend, paying off a football bet I lost (don't ask). What filters are you all using for this application? I have some Denso 115040-0080 filters lying around that I got from Rock Auto to go on the Tacoma in my signature, and some Denso...

My review of the General Altimax RT43 tire

I put a set of RT43s on my ex-g/f's '07 Subaru Impreza in 205/55-16 about a year ago. During that time my son and I drove the car from Florida to Washington state and back twice, encountering just about every kind of road condition and weather you can imagine. I was impressed, and would not...

    Microguard (O'Reilly's) PH7317 clone -Used w/ pics

I thought the O'Reilly's Microguard filters were made by Wix? I've used their MGL51334 before in Subarus with no issues.

2012 4 cylinder extended cab Tacoma review

CT8 - I have the same truck, except mine is a '95. Extra-cab 4X4 with the 2.7 motor and manual trans. My son has been the principle driver since he got his license (he's 24 now), so you can imagine how that thing has been beaten on (and looks it). But the drivetrain has been bulletproof - now at...

Rotella 5W-40 in an '07 Subaru Impreza?

Oops, forgot to add, the engine has about 140K on it at this point. Thanks in advance for any input.

Rotella 5W-40 in an '07 Subaru Impreza?

Recently did the head gaskets in g/f's '07 Impreza. This is the normally aspirated 2.5L boxer motor, not the WRX turbo. Anyway, the oil and coolant leaks are now gone (bottom of the engine is bone dry after a 4,000 mile cross country trip from Florida) but it did use about 2 quarts of oil during...

    2005 Hyundai Elantra timing belt

Many thanks to sciphi and zoombucky - did the timing belt and water pump on the Hyundai and it went pretty easily. Air tools helped. The hardest part was cleaning the old gasket material off the water pump mounting surface (it was really baked on), and then walking the lower timing belt cover...

combined tire threads by Ram Man

I have the Pirellis on my '93 244 in 205/60-15, and the General RT43s on my g/f's Subaru in 205/55-16. Both are good; I think the Generals are little better in the rain, but that might just be the AWD Subaru vs. the RWD Volvo. You might also consider the Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring - I recently put...

    2005 Hyundai Elantra timing belt

Son's g/f's car. No record of timing belt change from previous owner. We are going to tackle the job this weekend. I've done timing belts before, and have watched a YouTube video of this particular job, just wondering if there are any potential pitfalls I should be aware of before we dig into...
