    Gear oil video...

Is Bob around anymore? I haven't had time to go searching to see if he is still active. Does he have the same ID now? I know mine has changed since I was last on a couple years ago. I wonder if it would be worth contacting him? Thanks for the info... Scott

    Gear oil video...

Well, first, I'm looking for the group of videos that Bob had originally done a few years back. Second, what makes you think they were intended to be "scientific"? Third, why do you think they were biased? Not saying they weren't, but I'd like to know your reasoning for saying so. At the...

Bump... No one has a source for these videos? Or at least someone who can download those files and actually get them to play? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Scott

    Gear oil video...

Well, I cranked up the "wayback machine" and found this page: http://web.archive.org/web/20100114033558/http://bobistheoilguy.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=65&Itemid=61 Does anyone have the related videos? I wish they had at least been put up on YouTube, but they haven't...

Yep, that is the one. I remembered it as a video, but these pictures provide the same information! Thank you so much for finding this. I hadn't thought about checking the internet archive. I appreciate it! Scott

    Gear oil video...

Hi Everyone, I've been gone for a few years and just came back to view a video I remember watching the last time I was on the site. The problem is that I can't find it here any more and I was wondering if anyone knew where I might find it. The video was of a gear oil test involving...

Where to buy Nissan Matic ATF online?

Like Stab, I have an Infiniti (G35) and Infiniti specifically says that the transmission warranty will be VOIDED if I use anything other than their "Nissan Matic J" transmission fluid. ARRRGH! Scott PS. Here is the quote: "Using automatic transmission fluid other than Genuine Nissan Matic J...

    ATF+4 Recommendations? ('99 Dodge Durango 5.9l 4x4)

[Excuse me while I put on my "skeptic's hat"... ] Come on guys, let's get real for a second. We ARE talking about OIL here, not the secret for nuclear fusion. The idea that ONLY Chrysler can make a fluid that will work well in their transmissions is patently rediculous... especially with their...

What dino oil has the most moly?

Just out of curiousity, why is the dino/moly combination important? You should check out the Schaeffer Oil site (http://www.schaefferoil.com - I have no financial interest, but DO like their products). They probably have a dino/moly oil. However, their 7000 series synthetics will run longer...

Good Lubricity Additive for Diesel Fuel?

Here are two other Schaeffer Oil pages (actually frames) you may want to check out... http://www.schaefferoil.com/products/fuel.html http://www.schaefferoil.com/soyshield/soyshield.htm And their home page for more info and history about the company and its products...

TEST/ DEMO - the story on additives

Sure, Bob is a Schaeffer rep. Just like you (through your employment at AutoZone (see below)) are a "rep." for Lucas Oil products. You imply that Bob can't be objective because he sells Schaeffer Oil products. I guess by that logic, you can't be objective because you sell Lucas Oil products...

    Least expensive synthetic.....

You can get Schaeffer 7000 Synthetic for $3.50/quart plus shipping. I usually buy mine by the case. It is an excellent oil that has performed VERY well in both vehicles I drive. I keep my OCI's a bit conservative because both vehicles are under warranty (one manufacturer's WR, the other...

    Dangers of Overfilling

BTC, If the oil was "foaming", it would become lighter in color, tending toward a light caramel/cream/milk color (depending on the amount of air "entrained" into the oil). It would also become opaque rather than the transluscent color oil normally is. Imagine how coffee changes color as it is...

Best synthetic for my 1998 Camry

Here's a vote for Schaeffer's 7000 5w30. My in-laws have a Camry that had its engine replaced and they are using Schaeffer's now. You can get it for ~$4/quart, delivered. This is slightly cheaper than M1 and, IMO, it is at least as good an oil. Here is a link to their technical data that you...

    Syn payback on fuel economy?

Can synthetic oil improve fuel economy? Yes. I DO agree with G-Man II, though. I cannot think of ANY circumstances that a synthetic oil could pay for itself based on fuel economy. IMO, at best, you can expect .5-1mpg (at the same weight/viscosity). However, it probably could pay for itself...

    ATF+4 Recommendations? ('99 Dodge Durango 5.9l 4x4)

According to the owner's manual, the AT holds 10.1 liters (~11 quarts) plus the transfer case (due for a change @ ~55K miles) holds 1.35 liters (~2 quarts), total 13 quarts plus 2 quarts "just in case". Maybe I should add another 1-2 "just in case" quarts? Thanks for the input! Scott PS...
