Additive Removed Due To Cat Failures?

The following is all hearsay... A couple of guys were talking over the weekend and the topic turned to motor oil. One guy said he liked Amsoil and the other guy agreed. They then began to discuss other brands that might have good characteristics. One of the guys stated that Amsoil, Valvoline...

    FilterMag Anyone?

Based on my reading through their marketing information one of their claims seems to be that the material caught by the magnet is material that the filter doesn't have to remove thereby extending the life of the filter and extending maintenance intervals.

    FilterMag Anyone?

What does everyone think of these things? I've recently realized that I'm missing the magnet in my trans pan and looked at these. While I was at it I looked at the oil filter magnet as well. http://www.filtermag.com/

Any Reason Not To Use A 5W-30 Instead of a 10W-30?

I drive a '93 Ford 5.8L (351 cid) with a 6 lbs. supercharger and a '99 Nissan 3.0L V6. Both vehicles are lubricated with conventional motor oil. Both are driven in the Tampa, FL area. Both vehicles typically get exceedingly frequent oil changes and never, ever over 3K. Both owner's manuals...

Is 10W-30 an Obsolete Viscosity Grade?

So if my owner's manual says to use a 10W-30 or a 5W-30 depending on ambient temps I should be using the 5W-30? I do live in S.W. Florida where temps get to close to 100 and done to about 30 now and then...

What's The Deal With Motorcraft Motor Oil?

You know what you guys... I've been lying to you and I apologize. I just looked over my maintenance spreadsheet and found the following OCIs since I purchased the truck back in MAR of '05 Mileage at oil change: 75,335 75,688 76,629 77,583 78,224 78,720 79,225 I still might a bit anal...

What's The Deal With Motorcraft Motor Oil?

Yes... I've been told I am. And I'm O.K. with that. Seems I only put about 50 to 100 miles per month on my '93 F150 Lightning, so I change my oil based on the 3 months, not the 3000 miles. What's so special about this particular '93 F150 Lighting?... It's #8 of 5276 built that year and the...

What's The Deal With Motorcraft Motor Oil?

Considering my oil gets changed about every 200 to 250 miles, I think I'll use what I've got.
