magnefine filter ...what size for a 98 civic auto?

Could someone who has installed one in a Honda tell me what size to get for the auto transmission and also how they installed it? 5/16, 1/2 , and 3/8 are the options. Which hose do you connect it to... the left or right?

    New(to me) 98 Civic LX with a 4sp AT

OK I looked and the dipstick says Honda ATF Dextron. What can I use to do a partial pan drain and fill? Does it have to be some crazy expensive Honda ATF?

    New(to me) 98 Civic LX with a 4sp AT

I have to look and see what the dipstick is indicating... What does an external filter look like? Is it so big that it has to bolted down? The partial fill sounds like a good conservative option. Are there magnets to clean on these pans if not I was going to suck it out with my extractor and...

    New(to me) 98 Civic LX with a 4sp AT

Car has 140K. I have no service records but it looks like a very clean car, meaning not abused. I have noticed that 2nd and 3rd gear rev high before it shifts unless I really go extremely light on the throttle. What would you do to baseline this car's AT? ARX or MMO for a short run then a fluid...

Oil / filter suggestions for 2012 Hyundai Elantra

oops I was looking at the Accents at the same time you guys are right. As Rosanne Rosanadana would say "Never Mind!" Although I will say that the 29/40 EPA MPG is quite impressive considering that it isn't a GDI.

Oil / filter suggestions for 2012 Hyundai Elantra

Hate to contradict but I just ordered a 2012 Elantra for a family member and it is a 1.8 GDI engine. I believe that only the Elantra touring station wagon retains the 2.0 MFI engine for 2012. I do want to bump this thread and piggyback with my own question I have heard that there many be the...

    Lug nut socket (05 Corolla)

Get yourself a 3/8 to 1/2 drive adapter to attach to the end of your 3/8 inch drive torque wrench. Much cheaper than a new 1/2" drive t wrench. and use the 21 mm impact deep dish socket. You can get 75ft/lbs on that t wrench close enough as long as its even all around so your rotor don't warp.

    05 corolla starting issue

I had similar symptoms. Bad news dude..I just went to the dealer and got my fuel pump and computer replaced under warranty. There are TSBs out there for the 2005 2006 Matrix that cover each issue. I would check for similar TSBs for the Corolla. The bummer is you are probably out of warranty.

    KYB Gas-Adjust Shocks & Struts

I put KYB gas struts with Moog variable rate springs on a 90 corolla. The thing rode like a sports car on rails. Boy I miss that car!!! It was a red 5 speed. Good memories.

Interesting comment made by Honda salesman

The chain guides are the wear items. But if properly lubricated..ie regular OCI, It really should last the life of the car.

    antisieze compound on lugnuts??

I have read that with alloy wheels it is reccomended to re-torque the nuts after driving awhile. That would be whether one applies anti-sieze or not. So... that clouds the issue some. A lugnut could back off after applying anti-sieze and torquing once. But was it the the anti-sieze that caused...

    Nissan moonroof interchangeability

I just got a 99 Altima SE for next to nothing. Trouble is it needs a engine work . One item...the glass moonroof is in need in replacement. Do I need to look just for a 98-01 Altima moonroof? ...or can I get one from another Nissan Sentra or Maxima? Is there Nissan Mechanic who can give me...

    Moral dilemma

Even the Cheapest ST oil is SM rated. As long as you do not go over 5K with the cheap stuff, You can sell the car with no pang of conscience.

1996 Toyota Avalon 1MZ-FE V6 Engine Sludge Dilemna

I don't fault you for the kero flush. You got to get those flakes that you scrapped out of circulation somehow before you run the car out on the streets. ARX is not dissolving those instantly! You are on the right track.

1996 Toyota Avalon 1MZ-FE V6 Engine Sludge Dilemna

I know, Brian, especially if chemtool was as cheap as Kero... lol But seriously I suggest it because it has been suggested in the past And really is it any safer really to run the car all over creation with sludge chunks floating around in the engine? This way here the small chunks can be...
