It actually doesn't consume much oil at all. I had an integra before this car (del sol) and that ran through oil much faster. I would say it uses about 12oz over 5k miles, which is suprising to me since the RPM's are ususally pretty high.

Purolator stopped making the oversize filter. It was the PL24458. You can still get the Premium Plus version at Sears (what they have left it stock), but my local pep boys stopped stocking them months ago. I remember someone saying that another filter will also work, but I can't remember the number.

thanks for the help, I did look near the TB and found the fill plug. for the life of me I do not get why there is no dipstick. Even if I put in the same amount as I take out, who's to say it wasn't low in the first place!!

Is wheel bearing grease oil soluble? I am doing a transmission pan drop and the new gasket says to coat with "oil soluble grease" I have some kendall SHP wheel bearing grease and was going to use that. Should it work?

Muddawgs, Are you saying the Tercel has a drain bolt? I guess i just assumed I was going to have to drop the pan. I may drop it this time just to change the filter, but if it has a drain bolt, I would go that way in the future.

I guess I should also ask if anyone knows how much fluid a drain and refill will take?
