ATF Choices for 4L60E: 05 Suburban and 03 Tahoe

Use any fluid that meets the Dex VI spec. Since both transmissions are functioning fine skip the Lubegard. Pan drop should remove 5 quarts of fluid. Total transmission capacity is 12 quarts. Pan drop/filter exchange followed by a fluid exchange on two vehicles will use approximately 35 quarts of...

    best oil choice for F-150

Stick with the MC filter. Good filter at a good price. Ford's V8s are easy on oil. Conventional, synthetic, blend, 20 weight, 30 weight, 40 weight---its hard to go wrong. Experiment a little if you like. Try a 15w-40 and see if your oil consumption goes down.

    Best oil choice for jeep

My choice would be Mobil 1 0w-20 or Amsoil 0w-20. Think I'd feel better if all the fluids were changed to synthetic after a reasonable break in period.

    best oil choice for F-150

With 170K on the clock I wouldn't change a thing. My F150 burned 1 qt of oil every 3K since it was new. Don't stress over it. 5K OCIs are fine on that truck. While not the most powerful V8, the 4.6 Fords are very reliable.

    Shell Nitrogen-enriched Fuel???

Its marketing junk. As more and more grocery stores, Walmarts, and wharehouse clubs now sell gas at discounted prices the traditional gas stations have to find a way to keep consumers comming to them. The only difference between gas at Sam's Club and gas at Shell is the add pack. Most folks...

    97 f-150 transmission

A 97 F150 has a mesh style filter that I would want to change after 13 years. Minimum service for that truck should be drop the pan, change the filter, clean the pan, refill. This will only change out 5-6 quarts of fluid. The prefered service would be to drop the pan, change the filter, clean...

    ATF change / Mercron V

As long as the ATF includes Mercon V as a spec it will work fine in your Focus. I used a variety of Mercon V ATFs in a 4r70w transmission I had and noticed no difference in real world driving. I don't think that the brand of fluid matters nearly a much as maintaining a reasonable change...

    2002 Windstar MC 5W-20 6000miles on oil!

Seriously, 6000 miles on the oil and you're worried about 300 more? Ford's new OCI using that very oil is 7500 miles and I'd bet the farm that Ford's european OCI 12,000 to 18,000 miles.

Suggestion for 1st trans fluid change on '87 Civic

Three or four drain/fills should completely refresh the fluid. Since you have to go through alot of fluid to do this I would recommend heading to Walmart and simply buying 9-12 bottles of Supertech ATF. The crush washer on the plug is designed to be used once. Consider getting a new one and...

    hondas and amsoil

No pan or filter, just a plug. Honda recommends changing the cush washer under the plug each time the plug is removed. You'll need a breaker bar to remove the plug the first time. Drain and fill every 30K is a great way to keep the fluid fresh. I've always used Z-1 purchaced from the dealer...

Which Syn GL-5 for MT Where Front Diff Shares Oil?

A quick scan of the Subaru owner sites and you relize how picky these manual transmissions can be. Many guys who try expensive synthetics report grinding, first gear lock out and poor shifting. After spending alot of money most of these guys go back to the stock fluid which is Valvoline 75w-90...

Recommend Trans fluid that meets Honda ATF-Z1

Unlike your typical Ford, GM or Toyota automatic transmission Hondas can be picky about what fluid they get. I'm not at all suprised that your shift quality was negatively effected when you switched to Maxlife. A drain/fill with Z-1 should bring things back to normal. Then, I'd do a drain/fill...

Recommend Trans fluid that meets Honda ATF-Z1

Honda/Acura approved transmission method is a simple drain and fill. Many dealerships will only perform this service. They have no fluid exchange machine. Three drain/fills is considered a fluid excahange. Owning an 02 RSX I have researched this topic quite a bit in the past. I decided years...

Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF or Amsoil ATF ?

FWIW I've used both Amsoil and Mobil 1 in the transmission in my F150. While both performed well, the Amsoil made the transmission shift slightly smoother and was not as discolored as the M1 after 30K.

    2000 Ford F-150 with 96K miles

Service the transmission. At least drop the pan, change the filter and top it off. With it being a 2000 you can drain the torque converter to replace nearly all the fluid or take it somewhere and have a fluid exchange preformed. Be sure to use a fluid that is Mercon V approved, acceptable...

    Syntec 5W-50 (yes 50) in '02 Acura 3.2 CL-S

What is the benefit to using a 50 weight oil in a 3.2L Acura? That's just making the motor work harder than it needs too. Have you seen some of the oil drain ports in these cars? They're small, clearly meant for thinner oils to flow quickly. Run a 5w-30 like the manual says, change it every 5K...

M1 made my truck seem louder. Smoother and quieter on 30w dinos.
