    Mobil Delvac 15W-40 in my '24 GR86

The Subaru boxers love a thicker oil. My wife has a 2006 EZ30R. The 3.0 litre H6 with a subaru type of VTec yo. 242 ps. This isn't a high mile engine and is a complex and tight clearance type. Currently it's filled with 10W50 for the first time. It loves it. After driving a few times, so smooth...

Makes sense from a business perspective, cant send the apprentice down to repco to buy a different oil for each vehicle. It's entirely plausible the vehicle in question never/infrequently received LL04, it did come from Darwin after all. Local Indy charged for LL04 last service but again, there...

I have 2 turbo diesel work ute's aka mini trucks. A Mitsubishi 2.4 L and a Ford 3.2 L. The BMW runs a bit smoother but the engines are practically the same otherwise. Per above post dealer just turfs generic valvoline into the Ute's. Agree the BMW is a better, more refined engine but the other...

The pri The price difference between, let's say 'consumer' and HDEO here is a real eye opener.

The castrol edge 0W40 was a real find from BITOG. It and the 10W60 have the same bland lable and just sit on the shelf next to the regular Edge 5W30 etc. Absolutely no way to tell apart. On sale price is reasonable too.

The only real risk I think is the DPF clogging but I think I'll be fine. It meets several tight DPF friendly specs. The Mitsu dealer service department just use valvoline professional 10W40 in everything, and they are a dealer for about 5 different car makes. Most service departments I've...

Thank you now I understand. I need to monitor chain issue regardless. Possibly tensioner or other component is on its way out. However I am taking the first step and ensuring this situation is not exacerbated by sheared oil. It is currently happily running on 5W40 and I acknowledge even 0W would...

It just has fresh LL 04 in it now and the issue is resolved. Old oil just sharted itself is all.

So if I am to follow everything your saying: My n47 with 73,000 km always following the 15,000 km OCI and using LL 04 is now broken, requires repairs, then I am to continue on with the same lubrication regimen expecting different results. Is the above statement correct?

Its good to hear a n47 success story. What was maintenance history? Shorter OCI etc. I have a 2008 2GRFE with 250,000km no timing chain issues and still is in perfect order and full power, but I did turf the Toyota 0W20 genuine 'feel efficiency' oil for full synthetic high saps 10W/40. IMHO in...

This is what I ordered on sale to trial: https://www.nulon.com.au/products/engine-oils/apex-plus/apxhd10w40 It's currently ACEA E8/E11 but used to be E6/E9. Delvac is API SP as well which should be lower saps. 0.9% I think. Many options. Not forgetting a higher viscosity oil should have lower...

CK-4 E9 substitute LL 04 in BMW N47 SEQ Oz

it's strange that both bmw and vag, both renowned engine manufacturers with distinguished, long histories, both seemingly lost decades of experience manufacturing engines with reliable chain driven cams overnight and suddenly produced vehicles which were lucky to make 100,000 km without at least...

A fine oil for a n20 powered 320i in Denmark driven daily on the freeway. Diesels are Diesel's. puting a Diesel in a BMW or Audi does not magically make it some special creature which can only survive if fed the correct magical elixir containing the tears of pixies with a failed small business...

CK-4 E9 substitute LL 04 in BMW N47 SEQ Oz

This is great information and gets to the crux of the matter. At least in my climate where cold starts at low temperatures is never an issue, CK-4 > LL04. The local product I just ordered to try does indeed include E11, MB 228.51/228.31 and Volvo VDS-4.5. Also, I am not concerned with any slight...

CK-4 E9 substitute LL 04 in BMW N47 SEQ Oz

This is exactly why I run BMW certified LL01 in my B48 but why I'm also sceptical of LL04 in a diesel - at least in my climate where cold starts at -20 C will never be an issue. True both engines are known for dainty timing chains but I'd rather run a dedicated petrol engine oil in petrol...
