    Motul 5w-40 2.9k mi; new F150 vehicle

Absolutely it is, particularly when you are talking huge amounts of people reviewing the product. I’m 100% sure you, just like 99%of us, pick products based on user reviews.

    Motul 5w-40 2.9k mi; new F150 vehicle

The problem with your logic is that overwhelmingly users review the product quite positively. If the product was a fluke it would not receive the raving reviews. This is data, one may not necessarily agree with it, but it’s still data. This is where the arguments fall apart, in my opinion...

    Motul 5w-40 2.9k mi; new F150 vehicle

I see consistent results with LM Ceretek. I have experience building a few engines over the years and I’m not easily fooled. What I consistently see is a smoother running engine, less vibrations and smoother idle, less cold start valve clatter, and improved MPG. I’ve seen this in multiple...

    Motul 5w-40 2.9k mi; new F150 vehicle

Thank you, this is exactly what I’m looking for regarding the metals. It confirms my suspicion about my elevated tin, aluminum, and copper levels. The tin is part of the Moly package. Ceratec contains a lot of molybdenum as well, at least what from what I understand. Motul euro has no moly in...

No, that’s a VOA for Motul, mine is the far right.

    Motul 5w-40 2.9k mi; new F150 vehicle

I recently performed a UOA on my fairly new F150 5.0. This was 2900 miles on the oil (Motul 5w-40 X-Cess Gen 2), 4700 - 7600 miles on the engine. I do understand the truck is still breaking-in and it takes some time for wear metals to flush out, I'm mostly interested in seeing is if some of my...

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

Would it not be a safe assumption that the higher the particle filtration results at 20 microns and up that it would also perform better for the 4 - 14 range? Also, at what point does it become somewhat pointless to care? If ones oil / additives are doing their job to keep wear metals down to...

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

Are you doing any UOA’s along with this?

    2023 F150 5.0 UOA Motul 5w-40 X-Cess Gen 2 with Ceratec

Yes, this is what I am thinking too. I also wonder how much some of the metals are additive vs wear.

    2023 F150 5.0 UOA Motul 5w-40 X-Cess Gen 2 with Ceratec

2023 F150 5.0 tuned on E40. 2900 miles on the oil. This is from 5700 - 7600 miles on the truck, still pretty new. What do you guys think? Wear metals are a bit higher than I expected, but maybe I am still flushing some stuff out. This truck sees lots of short trips / city driving. The additives...

2023 Tuned F150 5.0 / e40 Out: at 3k miles on the oil and sent in for a UOA, Motul 5w-40 x-cess gen 2 with Ceratec. Purolator Boss filter In: Amsoil Euro 5w-40. Fram Endurance filter. Also recently upgraded the rear differential cover and added Amsoil severe 75w-90.

    Fuel Dilution and E85

I do have a decent amount of short trips

    Fuel Dilution and E85

I think I’m going to try 3k for the first UOA.

    Fuel Dilution and E85

Correct, flex fuel engine. The oil life monitor does not appear to be connected to the O2 sensors which adjust mapping for flex fuel.

    Fuel Dilution and E85

Should I should do my oil changes more often with using E40 - E50 in general in my tuned F150 5.0? I plan on doing my first UOA soon and I’m debating on the mileage to do it.

    Metal in Engine Oil Break-in

High suggest you switch to a synthetic filter with good micron ratings. Also, invest in a magnetic drain plug. UOA’s can only detect metal you can’t see. Fram Endurance or Synthetic are good choices, Purolator Boss is very highly rated as well. What I run. Toyota OEM filters have abysmal...

Old oil, LOW miles: The TRUTH please?!

Yes absolutely it should be changed every 6 months regardless of mileage. It’s not the oil that breaks down inherently it’s the water and fuel in the oil that degrades the anti-wear additives and takes a big toll. Very small price to pay for engine longevity and keeping your wear numbers down...

    2024 Lexus RX350 UOA - 1,473mi / PUP 0W-20

I would switch to good 5w-30 and a better filter. OEM Toyota filters are known to be pretty bad filtration ratings. They lean to good flow but allow a lot of particulates through. A high end synthetic filter will outperform the cheap ones any day of the week. Purolator Boss, Fram Endurance or...

Change it often then. 20 shears down quickly with direct injection.
