2025 Toyota Tundra SR Loaner - I really hate this truck!

I daily a 2022 Tacoma I bought new. It's been reliable and I suppose it retains high resale value also, those are the only good things I can say about it.

    Looking for a File Set

I think it kind of depends on use. The biggest thing that I've had forced myself to do is keep the files that I use for general purpose in the files that I use for metal separate. Otherwise inevitably really end up wrecking all of my files as I try them on metal. This is my general set: REXBETI...

When to replace an "old" car....

Yeah Jeff, this is really what it came down to. We didn't really want to spend $20,000 just because. We could justify a $10,000 expense as a just because, however. At 10K though she wasn't going to get a lot of the features that her existing Lexus has - and I don't know that we were getting a...

When to replace an "old" car....

You know, the oems are great quality, but failures do happen. I think the miles will make it show up - I just hope it's nothing terminal (I don't think it is).

When to replace an "old" car....

I really appreciate all the advice. We're going to keep the car. I'm going to give her a monthly list (and set reminders so I ask)... Which really is oil, coolant, power steering fluid levels. I'll change the oil before the drive, then after we get there, so she will be good to go. The...

When to replace an "old" car....

I do appreciate this - I trust the rx330 in a serious crash. It didn't rate as well in headrests, but otherwise it tested very well. It's a good point, however!

When to replace an "old" car....

I don't, although I've done a few flush/fills and changed filter. The fluid that came out first time wasn't bad. Only transmission issue is a pretty occasional light throttle 2-3 funkiness. Oh, and going to florida.

When to replace an "old" car....

I do appreciate this. The bottom line is that if we absolutely had to we could go and buy her a car. A 20K purchase wouldn't break us. But I also don't want to replace a car just because. The 1800 mile distance has me thinking about this differently than if she was 3 hours away. Discussing it...

When to replace an "old" car....

That's the plan as of today - new car or same. And the thought of a local mechanic research while I'm there definitely crossed my mind. I know, and my first year I didn't take mine either. That thought has rolled around in my head.

When to replace an "old" car....

Honestly really is the perfect college car. And I hate the idea of saddling her with a savings drain right before she goes (even with us helping.) She has been an exemplary student and wonderful child. We are footing the bill for college, so we too are in a bit of a crunch!

When to replace an "old" car....

Unfortunately we don't have a middle ground car - a 2022 tacoma and a 2025 palisade. Both are needed at home, and neither easy to replace. We live somewhat remote, so we regularly make trips that are 30min one way. We run our own business, so the trips aren't optional. Once she's at school...

When to replace an "old" car....

Yes - worry about no dad mechanic is what's worrying me.

When to replace an "old" car....

Haven't touched starter, but battery is new last winter. Thank you.

When to replace an "old" car....

Critic funny enough - I've done the knock sensor sub harness, and removed & resealed the valley plate (coolant) last year. (I think you helped with recommendations at that time for rtv lol.). Replaced that weird coolant hose at that time also. I replaced the PS hoses at the same time and...

When to replace an "old" car....

Yes, I doubt this car will come back. That's kind of what I'm thinking... At least this is the devil we know! Gosh, she really drives about 5k a year right now. 2 years she'll be on/near campus. We'll fly her back for holidays. I doubt she'll come back for summer. It is a solid car...

When to replace an "old" car....

So I'm reaching out for advice here.... Our daughters car is a 2004 rx330, has 180kmiles. New battery, new water pump and timing belt 5k miles ago. It does leak a bit of oil from the bottom of the motor, but no drips. Doesn't burn oil after a b12 treatment and Valvoline Restore and Protect...

Castrol EDGE Euro on sale at Walmart

I've got 3 vehicles that can use 5w30... 2025 Hyundai palisade 2004 Lexus rx330 1999 GMC suburban 5.7 l31 (Also have a 2022 tacoma, but I stocked up on the Valvoline 0w20 hybrid oil deal last winter and have a ton of it.) Any reason I can't use this for all of these? The only thing I would...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

2025 Hyundai palisade, Valvoline Restore and Protect since new - the filter had a red tint this drain at 11k miles.
