CRV 18k mi OCI, significant sludge buildup

Yeah I wonder how he figured that to be honest. I can confirm it does not factor time into the MM.

CRV 18k mi OCI, significant sludge buildup

Ahh VQ engine is a workhorse! In my experience a lot of people buying luxury cars don’t even know the car has a hood that opens! That’s where all the dirty stuff is! Let alone knowing it has dirty oil that must be changed every once in a while. Some of the most neglected cars that I’ve seen...

CRV 18k mi OCI, significant sludge buildup

Ahh if the CRV in the video was short tripped in the same way as your car, that means that they did about 4.5ish maintenance minder intervals on their oil if assuming the same short trip variables. Makes me feel a little better in trusting the MM!

CRV 18k mi OCI, significant sludge buildup

Apologies to the moderators of the site! Did not realize the video contained profanity and was against the site rules! I describe the video’s findings though so hopefully others can still chime in with their thoughts!

CRV 18k mi OCI, significant sludge buildup

No worries for mentioning it before! I appreciate learning new information. That sounds like a really interesting job. Were these early or later model cars? I know engine oil and especially engines have undergone a lot of improvements over years and I also know synthetic usage has been on the...

CRV 18k mi OCI, significant sludge buildup

I love the Honda OLM just because of its simplicity and its ability to track the other maintenance items on the car. I wonder how running it to 50% would affect other items? I am also mildly skeptical of the level of detail you can see on most consumer-accessible UOAs and usually wouldn’t...

CRV 18k mi OCI, significant sludge buildup

Beautiful! 5K oil changes on something like Kirkland/SuperTech would not break the bank for me. I guess the biggest thing for me is the pain of changing my oil in our dinky garage and because of our jobs we do drive a lot. Am hoping to buy a house soon tho! Maybe then I can shorten my OCI. ;)

It’s the 1990’s: what motor oil and grade are you using?

5w30 Bulk oil from the shack-like drive through oil change place that existed in our small town for the Ford Windstar!

CRV 18k mi OCI, significant sludge buildup

Good afternoon BITOG and I hope everyone can enjoy their Memorial Day if you are in the US. After changing my partner's oil and CVT on their 2021 CRV, Youtube's strange algorithm recommended to me another engine sludge video. (Seriously, these are addicting for me to watch, sort of like those...

    Goodyear Reliant (Walmart)

Bought them for brother-in-law as an early christmas present during Walmart's black friday sale. For $80 a tire and free mounting with Walmart+, the value cannot be beat. He has no complaints but I haevn't driven his Mazda.

Just saw a Goodyear commercial titled "Forever the greatest name in tires"

I am from the Akron area, so I have a lot of family friends who work in the tire industry, not just at Goodyear, but a lot of other tire businesses that have their engineering departments nearby. Me personally I have never had an issue with Goodyear tires and can usually score the amount a...

    Pennzoil Platinum Smell

Are we really at the point where we are detecting the subtle hints of motor oil aroma? Not that I’m also not a motor oil freak, I just think it’s funny. “VRP 2023? Oh yes that was a good year for 5W-20. Very oaky smell.” Will say though Motul 7100 smells delicious whenever I pour it into...

    Goodyear WeatherReady 2 Tires?

I want to write an update about my new experience. I have had the Goodyear WeatherReady2 tires for the good part of 3 months at this point, including some seriously horrible winter weather. I can confidently say these are some of the best tires that I have had in my 40+ years of driving. These...

    CrossClimate 3 Tire Release?

I got the Goodyear WeatherReady2 and let me say it is a seriously good tire. I know a lot of folks have sworn off Goodyear because of some political things that happened a while ago but this is one tire that is absolutely incredible in the snow and I honesty think is quieter than other...

    Goodyear WeatherReady 2 Tires?

Thank you for the input. Slightly less worried about noise overall as this is the wife’s car. She had a bad bearing out on her car once and it wasn’t until I got in her car and I heard it howling that I asked her if that noise bothered her and she said she didn’t even notice it!! I just want to...

    Goodyear WeatherReady 2 Tires?

Yeah it’s a **** shame that the only USA company seems to have less than stellar reputation than elsewhere in the world.

    Goodyear WeatherReady 2 Tires?

235-65-17. Cousin mentioned that this size should be released on September 1st and I can wait that long if need be. I totally forgot about tire rack to be honest. I never thought the reviews done by the company themselves were that informative, but I will use it for aggregation of user reviews.

    Goodyear WeatherReady 2 Tires?

Good evening BITOG, First time poster and like most of us, somewhat of a car geek. I am in the market for new tires for the wife's CRV. I was settled on Michelin's CrossClimate 2 until I found out a relative worked for GY and could get me a discount. I was looking at their site and noticed...
