Carbureted vs Electronic Fuel Injection Road Tripping

Grrrrr and I think that’s where my brand loyalty of wanting a vintage Mopar van would bite me…. Their electronics have not been known to be stellar for a long time. Lean Burn electronics in the 70s/80s. Ballast resistors in the 70s/80s. PCMs and underhood fuse panels commonly failing 90s era and...

Carbureted vs Electronic Fuel Injection Road Tripping

I had a Chevy truck with a 350 TBI… dead nuts reliable. I have zero experience with Chrysler’s TBI setup of the 80s/90s but from what I have gathered in forum surfing they can be a bit cantankerous. If I were to get a carb model I’d be ripping out all associated lean burn and feedback carb for...

Carbureted vs Electronic Fuel Injection Road Tripping

When it comes to reliability/dependability and least likely to keep you completely stranded thousands of miles away from home, when it comes to older/classic vehicles which fuel system do you prefer….. carburetor or electronic fuel injection? I’m considering an older Dodge van to cross...

    Driving Without Coolant Reservoir Cap

Lesson learned.... better off buying from a family owned style of dealership. I'd rather not state the dealership here since I still want to "respectfully" notify Hyundai Corporate.

    Driving Without Coolant Reservoir Cap

So this is where I am discovering more shadiness… their website lists NO Owner or President etc…. Only managers, sales people and techs. This is an “Auto Group”… they have a few locations in my state. When I tried doing some over the phone tactics I asked to speak to the dealership owner…. The...

    Driving Without Coolant Reservoir Cap

Finally resolved. It took me going there in person as no one was getting back to me or answering the phone. Service writer who let her drive off with no cap was there and gave the "I tolD heR iT woUld bE FinE bEcaUse it iSn't PreSSuriZEd". I brought the owner's manual in hand and had him read...

    Driving Without Coolant Reservoir Cap

The other reservoir has to do with the Hybrid system. I researched this and it is normal to be blue in that reservoir.

    Driving Without Coolant Reservoir Cap

Here is the coolant bottle with the missing cap. You can see the level is also slightly low.

    Driving Without Coolant Reservoir Cap

Cool to see a different perspective on this. Regardless, they will still be hearing from me. They could have at THE very least put some tape on the opening like you stated. Lazy incompetent FOOLS

    Driving Without Coolant Reservoir Cap

I think what they also need to do is tow this car back to the dealership to put that cap on once they get it. I should not have to drive it back there with no cap! Idiots!!!

    Driving Without Coolant Reservoir Cap

Question before I make contact with a local Hyundai dealership and give the service manager an earful… My wife brought her 2024 Tucson Hybrid in for scheduled maintenance today. They said the coolant reservoir cap was missing and they have one on order. They told her the car is still safe to...

Tips to Cross Country Older Truck with Tow

If I go classic truck route I will keep the Impreza and drive it till it dies. Been in the family from the start (wife bought it new). Good reliable car just a turd. If I go Maverick it will get traded in/sold.

Tips to Cross Country Older Truck with Tow

That is bananas. Would never attempt it with this car. Would need a CVT cooler installed at a minimum and even then I wouldn't be comfortable towing over 1000 lbs with this car. It is a chore merging onto the parkway here with just myself in the car. Very underpowered.

Tips to Cross Country Older Truck with Tow

Why not 99-01? I know Daimler merged with Chrysler in 1998... not sure if quality took a dive after that merge. Never drove one. My father is a GM man at heart... despises Chrysler products and told me back then he wanted to give Dodge a chance since he does admit they were a good looking...

Tips to Cross Country Older Truck with Tow

I currently drive a 2015 Impreza automatic (CVT). It is rated for no towing at all and quite frankly I would never want to tow anything more than a bicycle rack with this car as it is painfully slow. I'm sure it could tow something like the attached photo (motorcycle only tow setup, very basic)...

Tips to Cross Country Older Truck with Tow

The last truck I had was a 2001 Sierra 1500 4x4 GMT800 4.8 4L60E. I know this is a respected platform but mine was a lemon.... but to be fair it was an old rusty New England truck. I owned a 2V Ford E350 van I used for motocross when I raced and I loved that van. Never let me down... first...

Tips to Cross Country Older Truck with Tow

This is where I feel there are two types of reliability: just work no matter the cost (inefficiency) and work really efficiently 98% of the time at the expensive of complexities that may eventually leave you stranded. That efficiency and reliability grows less and less as it gets older (say a...
