I believe the esp has the most certifications. However all 4 meet some very tough certifications. I’ve read up on the VW 504/507 spec that the esp has and it sounds like a very serious series of tests

After looking at the ford specs for my engine.. the motor craft spec oil for the 2.0 ecoboost has even less ZDDP than the Mobil 1 ESP 5w30. So it seems lower ZDDP oils a a non issue.

I have no doubt that PU is a quality oil. I’m glad to hear that it has worked well for your ecoboost. And if I didn’t have an engine that is hard on oil I’d stick with it. Just wanted to go with something a bit thicker and higher HTHS.

That is true. So In reality it probably makes no difference. And also on the 2.0 ecoboost in the ST. Even with a good amount of IVD the car still seems to run fine based on all the evidence on the Focus ST forums. Lots of people with 100k+ miles and never cleaned the valves and have no issues...

Which VW do you have? It’s also TGDI?

They’re fun little cars. Very fun on tight technical sections and canyon runs. Not a lot of top end horsepower on these cars unless you go with a bigger turbo. but great amount of torque for a 2.0 I can’t complain about the performance for what the car cost me.

No cat on my car anyways. I know some people don’t like this. Especially the EPA. But my turbo prefers catless. Lol. So I guess it comes down too. Will lower SAPS oils produce less IVD vs full saps.

Well I still got to get though my last 6 quarts of PUP. So I guess I’ll have time to decide between the Mobil 1 0w40 or the ESP 5w30. In the meantime. Here are a few pictures of the car.

Yeah that’s pretty much what my tuner said. He said these ecoboost don’t have the issues some older gen TGDI had and that IVD and LSPI weren’t of much concern. And that if the PCV system is functioning properly than I will be fine and that no catch can is needed.
